Building upon the success of the previous series, NICEIC’s hit webinar programme The Wire is gearing up to set new milestones with an all-new season. Free and exclusive to NICEIC-certified businesses, the new episodes kicked off on 13 September. The live broadcasts are delivered every fortnight and delve into an array of vital subjects, all designed to help NICEIC-certified businesses remain up to date. Topics include earthing and bonding fundamentals, navigating the DNO’s notification requirements for EV charging and solar PV installations, understanding the NICEIC electrotechnical assessment, how to get EV charging installations right, nurturing mental health and wellbeing and the NICEIC’s ultimate technical quiz. Schneider Electric Ireland appoints Darren Kinsella as Business Development Manager for New Energy Landscapes

Schneider Electric announced the appointment of Darren Kinsella as Business Development Manager – New Energy Landscapes. Darren will have a critical role in supporting Schneider Electric’s customers and partners through the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition, including the rollout of electric vehicles (EVs) across the country and implementation of microgrid systems. The former CEO of Darkin EV, Darren will drive expansion of products, solutions, software, and services catering. “Darren has built a reputation for innovation and an ability

to cultivate exceptional teams and connect his understanding of technology with new opportunities. He is the perfect addition to the team driving forward our growth plans in Ireland,” explained Chris Collins, Country President for Schneider Electric in Ireland. Commenting on his appointment, Darren Kinsella said, “Schneider’s work to support the rollout of EV in Ireland is particularly vital for a more sustainable energy future. Two apprentices from NI among SkillELECTRIC 2023 UK finalists

The eight SkillELECTRIC competitors who scored most highly in the recent national qualifying heats feature two apprentices from Northern Ireland: Conor McDonnell (Nesbitt Electrical / Southern Regional College) and Thomas Magee (SM Electrical / Belfast Met College). The list of UK finalists also includes Ben Gillin (Lloyd Morris Electrical / JTL Training), Danny McBean - Grants of Dufftown / SECTT), Demi Mae Whitehead (William Davis Homes / JTL Training), Jason Robinson (Neil Whicker Electrical Services / College of West Anglia), Kevin Boone (Darke & Taylor / Training in Electrical) and Thomas Turner (Parker Technical Services / JTL Training). All will now take part in the UK Grand Final at Oldham College, England, on the week of 13 November. SkillELECTRIC, the annual search for the UK’s best student electrician, is part of the WorldSkills UK competition framework. The event is organised by industry charity National Electrotechnical Training (NET) with sponsors and delivery partners Electric Center, the NICEIC and Scolmore Group.
