My daughter Kendra (IAC 09; IAC St 13) found the heart of Interlochen. In one short summer, the power of Interlochen transformed her and then me. I saw Interlochen’s beauty. I learned of its heritage and innovative educational purpose. I saw it connecting young people from all over the world who share a passion for self-discovery and creativity. I knew I wanted to help preserve those qualities, to enhance the student experience and to help make Interlochen more accessible to young artists, regardless of their socioeconomic status. It has been a privilege to do so through my service on the Interlochen Board of Trustees. I would like to thank my fellow trustees, who have shared their time—arguably the most precious of all investments—and helped Interlochen advance toward its second century. One of those trustees, the Honorable Kurtis Wilder, will take over as chair—an exceptional choice of a leader.
