ACS Subject Tables

ACS Subject Tables provide data similar to ACS Comparison Profiles and Detailed Tables and are classified by subject and have more detailed information. Subject Tables include the “S” prefix in their table number, and their product label contains “Subject

Tables.” One example of these tables is the Selected Characteristics of the Native and Foreign-Born Populations Table (Table S0501), which provides information on the gender, race and ethnicity, household composition, income, educational attainment, and other characteristics by nativity status for the U.S. population across multiple geographies.

American Community Survey (ACS) is the U.S. Census Bureau’s largest survey program. ACS data provides a detailed look into the U.S. population, collecting data on multiple topics, including demographics,

employment, housing, and occupations. It is the basis for many institutions’ decision -making, including federal and state fund distribution, organizations’ business and investing decisions, city and local governments’ emergency and health needs planning, and corporations’ market analyses.
