Example 1 Weather Application Graphs can be used to illustrate many different situations. Read the graphs from left to right. Horizontal segments indicate constant change during that corresponding time period.

Example 2 Recreation Application

Functions can be represented by words, tables, graphs, and equations. Because each representation of a function describes the same relationship, one representation can often be used to generate the other types of representations. For example, a table representing a linear function can be used to generate a graph and an equation.
