ECOERNE TACKLES THE INDUSTRY SKILLS GAP WITH ITS ‘INTRODUCTION TO LOW TEMPERATURE HEATING AND HYDRONICS’ COURSE, EMPOWERING PLUMBERS AND INSTALLERS IN HEAT PUMP TECHNOLOGY… Ecoerne’s essential heat pump training Heat Engineer software benefits:

• Adherence to industry standards: The software strictly follows the calculation process outlined by CIBSE. • User-friendly: Designed to be intuitive and user- friendly, it is accessible to both trainee and experienced plumbers and engineers. • Promotes sustainability: Helps advance eco-friendly practices, aligning with BIM industry goals and aiding decarbonisation. • Room-by-room heat loss calculations: Helps plumbers and engineers conduct detailed room-by-room heat loss calculations, essential for designing efficient heating systems. • Meets industry standards: Adheres to calculation methods by CIBSE and EN 12831, and complies with UK standards (MCS MIS 3005 and MIS 3004), ensuring precision for heat pump and biomass calculations. • Fuel cost comparison: Provides a unique comparison feature that displays running costs for various fuels, encouraging the adoption of renewable heating solutions over fossil fuels.

E coerne is celebrating not only its 10th anniversary, but also the opening of a revamped training facility and the launch of a new course in collaboration with Heat Engineer Ireland, which is aimed at demystifying heat pump technology for plumbers and installers. The fully subscribed ‘Introduction to low temperature heating and hydronics’ pilot course began at its Fermanagh- based training centre in September. It addresses the growing demand for expertise in low-temperature heating and hydronics, driven by recent changes in building regulations favouring heat pump technology. Managing Director, Denzil Cluff, has undergone intensive training with Heat Engineer and Heat Geek to deliver courses that will help bridge the skills gap and educate installers and plumbers about low-temperature heating technology. “This is a totally new concept for many in the industry and it requires a

completely different thought process,” said Denzil. “We want to take away the hurdles – the knowledge and skills deficit – by creating training courses to help installers work as confidently with heat pumps as they already do with oil and gas boilers. Our goal is to dispel myths and promote energy efficiency across all heating systems, not just heat pumps. We are collaborating with manufacturers and the industry as a whole to enhance best practices and promote efficient products.” After completing the one-day course led by trainers Denzil and wife Cheryl, with support from Heat Engineer’s Rob Berridge and Rich Cartwright, attendees will have gained the confidence and knowledge to conduct professional heat pump surveys and designs using the Heat Engineer software and app. For more information on the Introduction to Heat Loss and Hydronics course, or any of Ecoerne’s other training and consultancy services, speak to Denzil on: +44 (0)7736 063 127.
