DAIKIN LEADS THE WAY IN ADVOCATING FOR GENDER DIVERSITY WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL WOMEN IN HVAC EVENT… Empowering women in HVAC

T he field of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) has historically been linked to a predominantly male workforce. Nonetheless, over the past few years, there has been a significant increase in the number of women occupying engineering positions within the industry. Daikin Ireland, a prominent presence in the HVAC sector, is leading the way in advocating for gender diversity. Having recently held its second annual Women in HVAC event in September, Daikin Ireland is celebrating the achievements of the women who are shaping the future of HVAC. “This event is not just about breaking barriers, it is about building bridges for the future through connections and relationships,” commented Sarah O’Loughlin, Marketing Coordinator at Daikin Ireland. Daikin Ireland has set an example by acknowledging the importance of having a diverse workforce. The dedication of the management to foster an inclusive atmosphere where every individual’s perspective is valued and events like this are promoted, demonstrates their progressive approach.

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION Building on the success of the previous year, the event was a celebration of the women who have made significant contributions to the HVAC industry. The day featured a line-up of inspiring speakers, informative workshops, and networking opportunities. Prominent women in HVAC such as Sara Steele, Executive Director of EDC and Amy Lowry of Tritech shared their journeys, experiences, insights and how they have overcome challenges throughout their careers. Their stories served as a source of inspiration for all attendees. “This gathering of women in HVAC isn’t just about skills; it is about the heart and passion we bring to our work every day, and our speakers really highlighted that for our attendees today,” stated April McHale, Retrofit Business Development Manager at Daikin Ireland. “Daikin continues to impress me with their positive agenda of connecting and lifting women. The energy in the room was just fantastic. It was a genuine pleasure to share my experiences with a room full of accomplished women.

The future is bright!,” added Sara Steele Executive Director of EDC.

A SENSE OF COMMUNITY The event also included an interactive workshop hosted by Patricia Byron which aimed to empower attendees with valuable skills and knowledge. Networking opportunities were a key focus of the event. Attendees were able to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders. These connections have the potential to foster a sense of community among women in HVAC. Daikin Ireland’s second annual Women in HVAC event served as a reminder that progress is being made in the HVAC industry towards greater gender diversity. As we celebrate the accomplishments of these remarkable individuals, we are also reminded that diversity and inclusion are not only beneficial but essential for the continued growth and innovation within the industry.
