END THE TECHNOLOGY TAKEOVER!

TAKE A BREAK AND UNPLUG

Technology has taken the world by storm, and with each passing day, new improvements and advancements are made. Today, you can tell Alexa to order new razors, shampoo, and dish towels from Amazon while eating breakfast at the counter. You can listen to a podcast on your phone with wireless headphones while waiting to see your doctor or catch up with old friends on social media. Some cars are practically self-driving, we have robots that clean our floors for us, and you can control your air conditioner thermostat from virtually anywhere. “Don’t get me wrong — I love having the ability to order food right through an app or to video chat with friends around the world, but every now and then, I need to reset and recharge.” However, with our noses always in our phones and our fingers constantly on the television remote, we can become almost robotic and drowned out by technology. Studies have shown that roughly 85% of Americans cannot go one day without technology, and through the pandemic, we’ve become even more reliant upon it. Technology certainly has revolutionized the world and made upgrades and luxuries such as working from home possible, but just like everything in life, we all need a break at one point or another. On March 3, we celebrate the National Day of Unplugging, a time in which we raise awareness for the benefits of putting the phone down, stepping away from computer monitors, and enjoying the world around us without phones in our palms. When you feel like you need a break, here are some great ways to unplug — even if it’s just for an hour.

DITCH THE PHONE BEFORE BED. An hour before you go to bed, plug your phone in and vow not to look at it until morning. Not only can too much screen time lead to a restless night of sleep, but it can also consume time you could be spending talking with your spouse, reading a book, or just relaxing before bed. Instead, step away from technology and focus on what’s important to close your day. CARRY A BOOK WITH YOU. Bring a book the next time you go to the doctor, have your teeth cleaned, or head out on your lunch break. This way, when you’re bored, you can catch up on some reading instead of scrolling through social media. LEAVE YOUR PHONE AT HOME. The next time you head out for a jog, go to the gym, take a hike, or even venture out to the zoo, leave your phone behind. While you may feel a bit out of touch with the world, unplugging for a bit to soak in the beauty of the surrounding world is therapeutic and liberating! Give it a try! Don’t get me wrong — I love having the ability to order food right through an app or to video chat with friends around the world, but every now and then, I need to reset and recharge. How will you unplug this month? Maybe you’ll limit yourself to an hour of social media a

day or make it a point to not check work emails over the weekend. Whatever you do, remember to always unplug from technology and your cellphone while driving — it saves lives!

WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOUR MARKETING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS EVERYWHERE! Today, artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the hottest marketing trends of 2023. AI is helping business owners boost their customer experience, better understand their target audience, and measure and judge for optimized growth. But what exactly is AI marketing, and how can it benefit you and your business? WHAT IS AI MARKETING? Companies will use AI technology to make automated decisions quickly. It collects and analyzes data, observes economic trends, and develops strategies faster than any human can. AI marketing software can take on a wide range of responsibilities, such as data analysis, consumer trends, and content creation and personalization. But how does AI compute and calculate this information? Whose data and trends is it looking at? Because AI marketing is used to help businesses improve their customer experience and understand their audience better, the best data for AI to use would be yours — the business’s customers. AI will analyze customer data and notice specific trends that will help it predict your actions on apps, websites, and other media. With this insight, companies can use these trends to create personalized content just for you in a matter of seconds.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING AI? One of the biggest benefits of AI marketing is that it gives you a better understanding of your consumers. This means that your automation will be faster and more intelligent and can positively impact your company’s revenue and ROI. AI can also generate personalized content both on social media and in emails that will attract your customers. In addition, because you’re using technology to create content, AI won’t make any costly mistakes. AI marketing doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. In fact, it’s expanding its channels by improving customers’ experience using chatbots. The marketing tool will improve business’s messaging services to provide customers with a better chatting experience. Chatbots could even integrate into sales, lead generation campaigns, and other customer service channels. prove guilt. To be guilty of this charge, the driver must not have the license on their person at the time of the traffic stop, did not display or provide their identification when an Atlanta police officer requested it, or the driver refused to comply, leading the police officer to believe they did not have their license. If a driver is convicted of not having a license at the time of a traffic stop by law enforcement, they could face misdemeanor charges. If it is their first time violating this law, they face a mandatory minimum $500 fine, a possibility of going to county jail for two days, and a potential six-month license suspension. However, if you have a valid driver’s license and just left it at home or a friend had it in their possession at the time, not to worry! To fight the charge, avoid paying hefty fines and jail time, all you need to do is show your valid driver’s license at a hearing. Once the proof is provided, all you need to do is pay a small $10 fine and be on your way! CAUGHT EMPTY-HANDED WHAT IS A ‘DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE’ CHARGE?

It’s happened to the best of us: You hand your driver’s license to a friend, parent, or significant other to hold onto for you when you don’t feel like carrying a wallet or purse, or you accidentally leave it at home. Later, you get stopped for a traffic violation, and you cringe as a mental image of it on your counter at home flashes in your mind. What happens now? In Georgia, when someone is pulled over, a police officer will ask for a driver’s license or proof of identification. If the driver fails to produce one, they may be charged with driving without a license on person. This charge can play out in three different ways. First, the individual may have a valid driver’s license but don’t have it on them. Second, they may have their license, but it’s either canceled, revoked, or suspended by the state of Georgia. They may or may not be aware of this. Lastly, an individual may have never had a driver’s license, or it has expired and has not yet been renewed.

No matter what the circumstances behind the driving without a license on person charge, there are three elements that a prosecutor uses to

DUI checkpoints, also known as sobriety checkpoints, are common — especially in Atlanta. Many of you likely have traveled through one before on a holiday weekend, on the way to a big game, or leaving a concert. They are fixed locations on the road where law enforcement officers stop drivers to ensure that they are not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you are ever stopped at a DUI checkpoint, the police officer will likely ask for your name, driver’s license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. It’s important to know your rights when and if you ever encounter one of these stops during your commute. Did you know that while you are obligated by law to provide the officer with your name, license, insurance, and registration, you do not need to answer anything else — even if the officer is extremely persistent? If you are asked to take a field sobriety test or a breath test, you may politely decline — even if you haven’t had a sip of alcohol, you have nothing to gain and plenty to lose if you take the tests. Breath analysis tests are notorious for coming up with false-positive results caused by a variety of things, such as medications, and your body chemistry may lead you to incorrectly fail the test. Field sobriety tests can also fail 100% sober individuals. Refusing to take these tests in court will not and cannot be used against you. If your driver’s license is ever suspended because you refused one of these tests at a DUI checkpoint, one of our experienced DUI attorneys should be able to have it returned to you rather quickly. If you or someone you know has any questions or concerns or needs help navigating a complication with a DUI checkpoint, give us a call today — we’ve got you covered! How to Help Your Child Overcome the Spring Slump

WITH THESE 3 TIPS HELP YOUR CHILD FINISH THE SCHOOL YEAR STRONG We’re rapidly approaching the end of the school year, which can be challenging for many high school students. Some may have recently entered a spring slump (or succumbed to “senioritis”), where they grow bored or tired of school and now have their sights set on summer break. You may notice their grades slipping, which could signify skipping school or not trying on their assignments. This can have extreme consequences for their future, like not qualifying to attend their college of choice or even losing a potential scholarship if they’re in their senior year. As their parent, you can help them avert a potential disaster. You might not be able to do the work for them, but you can encourage them to do better. Here are a few ways to help your child avoid the spring slump. CULTIVATE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Most children look to their parents as a primary example of how to act. If you consistently say negative things about school or your child’s teacher(s), they will emulate your feelings. Try to flip your perspective and view their schooling positively if you do struggle with feeling negative about it. Speaking positively about school will help your children enjoy the experience better and set them up for success in the future.

PROVIDE MOTIVATION. What motivates your kids? Some kids perform better when rewarded for their actions, while others might need some form of discipline to encourage them to do better. Some kids don’t do well when encouragement comes from their parents, so you may need to find an outside source if your child does not respond appropriately to you. Every teen is motivated by something. If you can provide that motivation, they will do much better in all aspects of life. EXPLAIN THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GOOD GRADES. Sometimes, you just need to sit your kids down and have a conversation about the importance of keeping good grades and doing their assignments. But make this a discussion, not a lecture. If you try to dominate the conversation, it could adversely affect the situation. Explain the significance of grades and their potential impact on their future. Answer any questions they have and be honest in your responses.
