Staging and Grading Once prostate cancer is confirmed, it’s important to know and learn about the stage (location) and the grade (aggressiveness) of the tumor. The grade is also called the Gleason score. These are important factors in determining the course of treatment and risk of recurrence (the chance that the cancer comes back).
