Inheritance:
Why do we place so much emphasis on the cows populating the pedigree? With intentionality, dams which are prepotent and which presumably transmit their mitochondrial DNA more consistently are strategically weaved into each pedigree. Mitochondrial DNA is the site of the cell’s energy production and it is only inherited from the mother. Without Mitochondrial DNA, gene expression is inconsistent and unpredictable. Prepotent: Showing great effectiveness in transmitting hereditary characteristics to its offspring. Prepotent cows tend to produce similar genetic expression in all of her calves regardless of the sire used. What if all 7 cows in a 3-generation pedigree are prepotent and consistent for type, kind, function and productivity? Obviously, the odds of success multiply exponentially.
