CUSTOMERS & FRIENDS Welcome to the 2025 edition of the Bred for Balance Sale. While we are always looking toward the future, whether it be the next calf crop or predicting the market, the preparation of this sale book causes some reflection on the past. Those reflections bring forth a lot of memories. It does not seem possible that this will be our 18th production sale. We have certainly been blessed not only by the support of ranchers from all over North America, but more importantly, we’ve been blessed by the relationships we have made. Those relationships and the feedback we receive from each are what keeps us on course with our breeding program. THE GENETICS We take our responsibility as a genetic provider with utmost gravity. The genetics which you place in your program play an outsized role in the future of your business. Not only does today’s successful cow-calf operations depend on making steers that pay, they must make cows that stay. There is much more profit discovered by having the right kind of fertile, maternally-efficient, problem-free cows populating the herd than by simply producing high-selling steers. THE OFFERING In an effort to bring more value to the equation than just another Angus bull, we deliver bulls which are genetically-built with many generations of practical, predictable and proven cattle behind them which excel for what we call ranch-level profitability. Going one step further, we only deliver bulls which are age-advantaged and developed slowly. They will hold up better, will breed more cows and will outlast the competition. And in the event of breeding failure, they are warrantied. THE TEAM The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. From producing purebred Angus seedstock to Quarter Horses and high-quality hay for our own use and for sale, Montana Ranch has a lot of moving parts requiring specialized expertise, dedication and intricate attention to detail. Those who drive each of these parts are integral to the cattle being offered. Following, we recognize those who contribute to the whole of Montana Ranch: • RANDY AND SUSAN HOLMAN run the Quarter Horse program. Simply stated, they are among the best in the business at what they do. • MATT COTTLE and his team of ANDY COTTLE, CURT WADE and COLT THORNESS blend cutting-edge technology and science with good old-fashioned farming smarts to produce the forage to sustain the herd and hay which is in high-demand throughout the West. When not producing world-class cow and horse feed, these professionals keep the equipment in mint condition, provide support for large cattle projects and in the long, hard winters in northwest Montana, keep the hay and bedding delivered to the herd. • MIKE SUTTON is a true jack of all trades. Mike enables everyone to keep focused on the job at hand by providing project support and in keeping all of the facilities maintained and in excellent working order. • DAVID and SANDY SABEY strive to keep us in position to succeed. Their inspiration, leadership and mentorship enable all of us to achieve more, both professionally and personally. Beyond our own team, we are certainly appreciative of our many great friends who always rise to the occasion when we need extra hands or expertise. There is not enough space to list them all here, but we could not run without them. We have made every effort in this book to provide you with very detailed information about each bull in this offering, while videos of each bull may be viewed by following the links on our website.
