MONTANA GENETICS IN AUSTRALIA The 3R Angus Genetics program in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, founded and guided by our friend, Geoff Birchnell, along with his partner Tony Haggarty has introduced Montana Ranch sires to the Australian cattle industry. Beginning with the importation of Benchmark 9016 semen, 3R then joined the group selecting Jake 1036 as the $40,000 top-seller of the 2022 Montana bull sale. In the years following, 3R became the exclusive semen supplier in Australia for Montana sires such as Atlantis, Judgement and Grant 200K, and in 2024, 3R purchased a share of Donna 4356 from the Montana program as the $27,500 half interest top-seller of the inaugural Dams of Distinction Online Sale. Benchmark sons rose to prominence in the Australian market starting with 3RLS New Standard T112, the $36,000 top-seller of the 2023 3R sale, and with 3RLS Unlimited T176, the top-selling bull in the 2024 3R sale at $44,000. In the 2025 3R sale, the first Judgement progeny offered in Australia sold for an average of more than $29,000, while the third year offering sons of Benchmark saw them sell for an average of nearly $17,500.

COMING SOON TO THE U.S. MARKET Joining the Montana semen sire lineup is 3RLS Horizon V046 from 3R Angus Genetics. The most impressive yearling bull displayed at the 2025 Angus Expo held in conjunction with the World Angus Forum, Horizon V046 is a stout-hipped, deep-sided and easy-fleshing son of the $500,000 Craftsman produced by one of the breed’s truly elite dams – Coleman Donna 9309. His dam blends ideal type and structure with a remarkable combination of traits ranking in the top 1% of the breed for $M, Claw and Angle; the top 2% for HP and DOC; while balancing a CED in the top 2% with a YW in the top 15%.
