Montana Ranch - Bred For Balance Angus Bull Sale [11/8/25]

Not all Angus bulls are created equal. Some are the product of intentional and disciplined breeding programs, while others are the product of multipliers. There truly is a difference. The Montana Program By utilizing the best science in combination with good, old- fashioned cow sense and intentionality in building pedigrees, we are able to produce bulls with a bred-in balance of optimum performance and maternal excellence. We are very cow-centric at Montana Ranch and target the relationships between different cow families which affect genetic expression. Having the right genes does not hold much value if those genes are not expressed on the ranch level. Encouraging this genetic expression with the right combinations of prepotent cows and by optimizing management subsequently sets up the resulting progeny with the ability to pass on that genetic expression.

Unlike much of the seedstock industry where the pendulum is constantly swinging with fire and ice/corrective matings, we mate “like to like” for increased consistency and predictability. Imagine seven cows from a three-generation pedigree standing in a corral. Are the cows similar in type? Are they of similar size? Are they similar in their productivity? Are they similar in structural soundness? Are they similar in their maternal abilities and function? If so, they will produce sons which will, in turn, produce progeny very much like those seven cows. Pay particular attention to the cows “stacked” in each of the pedigrees in this book. We think you will see that the cattle are truly Different by Design . If you would like to know more about the Montana Program and our breeding philosophy, just ask us!
