"Christ is not valued at all, un less He is valued above all." * * * "How About the Bible?" 'T h e Bible is getting old-fashioned/' That is what the modernists say, "One is simply naive if one should believe That the Scriptures just mean what they say; For science has proved them in error, Creation is set in the shade, It is easy to show that God didn't know How this little old world should be made." If one speaks of the Holy Spirit By whom one long had been led, There's a quizzical lift of an eyebrow And a pitying shake of the head; "O f course there isn't a devil, And Jesus was only a man, As for His return, you simply must learn That isn't a part of God's plan." What should one leave out of the Bible? Someone should be able to tell, Should he leave out the plan of salva tion, Or the part that condemns one to hell? Or the laws that cannot be broken, The prophecies that all have come true? I am still so naive that I still believe That all of the Bible is true. — Ella Brooks Bolkcom Sequim, Washington * * * "The best command of the English language is often the ability to mere ly keep still."

"In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words with out a heart." * "The Importance of Signs" Highway signs are always im portant, but never so vital as when summer brings her streams of vaca tioners. If these signs are tampered with, dire results may occur. Re cently a man was killed instantly and two others critically injured in Florida because pranksters removed a stop sign at an intersection. This foolish sense of humor turned into a flaming tragedy. But we have folk who would never think of touching highway signs and yet they remove even more vital signs unintentionally in their minds when they ignore every “thou shalt” and “thou shalt no t’ in God’s law. These are the equiva lent of a stop sign for “whosoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in ONE point, he is guilty of all.” But “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” Do not tamper with God’s stop signs. Do not deface them . . . rather face up to them. Don’t change them . . . but let God’s miraculous grace change your life. * *
