Careers in Sports at Dean

Do you enjoy discussing sports day and night? Then a career in sports broadcasting might be for you. Dean’s Sports Broadcasting program will prepare you with specialized knowledge, including instruction on play-by-play, color commentary and analysis, interviewing, talk shows, and additional reportorial skills for television, radio, and podcasts. Every course you take will have a practical application and you will gain hands-on experience through at least one internship during your time at Dean. You will hone your skills in audio, video, and digital content production as you work with the College’s WGAO 88.3 FM radio station as well as Dean’s digital and TV resources. At Dean, you will learn from the best. Professional faculty includes John Rooke , who has 28 seasons as the stadium voice for the New England Patriots, two decades as the stadium voice for the New England Revolution, and more than 30 years of experience as the play-by-play voice for Division I college sports.

“Dean really empowers faculty and staff to give you the preparation and resources needed to go out and explore your career possibilities. Because of this support and my professor’s connections, I already have a full-time job in public relations and broadcasting for the New England Knockouts, a professional baseball team in Massachusetts. Not to mention the countless connections I’ve made that stretch across the country. And I just graduated this year! ”
