If your neck has been bothering you recently, you might be suffering from “stress-related” headaches. These typically occur when a person’s muscles tense up when they’re stressed or anxious. As muscles become tenser, the back, shoulders, and neck are negatively affected. The more pressure they experience, the more discomfort you’re in.

Is Stress Causing Your Neck Pain? Don’t Be Spooked, Physiotherapy Can Help!
Stress-induced neck pain is neither rare, nor is it psychological. Many experts think stress-induced neck pain is caused by low, but constant, trapezius muscle activity. Causes of Stress-Related Neck Pain While stress alone can trigger neck pain, a few factors can make it worse. Office environments tend to create neck pain problems — as they confine people to chairs, bad posture, and don’t provide much opportunity for mobility. Driving often can also make your chances of experiencing neck pain higher. The Canadian National Library of Medicine suggests contacting a professional if you’re experiencing neck pain. Even if it’s caused by stress, untreated neck pain may lead to muscle spasms, arthritis, bulging discs, or even narrowed spinal nerve openings. Before you can treat your neck pain, however, you need to know why it started. Whether you’ve tweaked a muscle or have a deeper injury, a specialist can help.

Let’s take a closer look at stress-related neck pain. Is My Neck Pain Caused by Stress? Have you noticed that your neck pain begins and travels in a specific direction? If your neck pain starts at the base of your shoulders, traveling upward, it may be stress-related. How Physiotherapy Can Help
Staff Spotlight Melissa Torr
Neck pain, fortunately, can be alleviated with physiotherapy. Because neck pain is often caused by activity, different activity can cure it. Sometimes, this “activity” means “no activity.” Before you contact a professional, try reducing your neck movements. Sometimes, simply letting your neck muscles relax is enough. If you don’t see relief within two weeks, contact a professional. Physiotherapists can target your pain’s source by examining your symptoms. Then, they can offer exercises that stretch, flex and relax your neck muscles. In time, your neck will become more resilient —giving you the comfort you de-serve. Where aftercare treatment is considered, custom-tailored neck exercises will assure your neck stays loose, limber and healthy. If you’re dealing with neck pain, you’re not alone. Call our office today, and schedule an assessment. Even if your neck pain is caused by stress, it still needs attention. We’ll work side by side with your goals, creating the proactive, effective programs you need to achieve mobility once more. Spider Devil Eggs
• 1/4 tsp black pepper • Dash of hot sauce • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese • 3 large pimiento-stuffed olives, each cut crosswise into 4 thin slices
Ingredients • 12 large eggs • 2 tbsp diced pimientos plus more for garnish • 2 tbsp canola mayonnaise • 2 tsp grainy Dijon mustard • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
Directions Fill a large saucepan with water to a depth of 1 inch; bring to a boil. Place steamer basket in pan; place eggs in basket. Cover and steam 15 minutes. Plunge eggs into a bowl filled with ice water. Let stand 5 minutes. Peel eggs. Remove top 1/3 of hard-cooked egg white from each egg (reserve caps). Use a teaspoon to remove yolks while keeping whites intact. Place yolks in a mediumbowl. Add pimientos and next 6 ingredients (through cheese), stirring until well combined. Place yolk mixture in a large Ziploc bag; snip one corner from bottom of bag to create a hole. Pipe yolk mixture into egg white cups, filling to just above the rim of each cup. Place one olive slice on exposed yolk mixture of each egg to create the body of the spider topping. Chop slices of olives to create the legs. Add pimiento pieces to either side of the body for horns, if desired.
