THE
Festival of light! St Hilda’s church visit.
Y3 PERFORMING This term in Year 3 we are learning about ‘Light’ in Science, and about the symbolism of light, including who is important to us in our lives. We had the pleasure of being welcomed by our local church, St Hilda’s to celebrate Festival of Light. Children in Year 3 were excited to perform songs, poems, jokes and showcase their artwork to parents and carers. Children also shared how different races and religions use light as an important part to celebrate their festivals. It was a cloudy afternoon however the sun beamed through the windows of the church as the children sang the songs they’ve been practicing proudly to their grown-ups. Well done Year 3! You were all shining brightly that day. GRAMMAR PERFORMANCE Key Stage 1 had some exciting musical visitors to school on Friday. King Edwards Grammar School came along to showcase their musical talent. The Concert Party started with a viola and violin duet, followed by a fun trumpet and trombone duet. Finally, the clarinet took centre stage with a fascinating solo. We hope the visit will inspire our children into taking up their own choice of instrument in the future. It was great to also have feedback from the visiting teacher, who said our children were a ‘pure delight’.
