Lithium Lulu! Sublime
PRACTICAL SCIENCE To accompany our topic of ‘Scientists and Inventors’, the children in Year 1 had a brilliant time being scientists for the day! A visit from Lithium Lulu, from ‘Sublime Science’, certainly inspired the children’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge about the world around us. With clever tricks and experiments around the themes of sound and air, the children were hugely engaged and wowed by the results. They also loved creating their very own pot of slime, observing the changes that took place as ingredients were added. Hope you were as happy when they brought it home! The children also carried out colour mixing experiments and explored gravity through the making and testing of helicopters – who could make theirs fall faster? We also took inspiration from our History lesson on Alexander Fleming and his discovery of penicillin. Using pieces of bread, we carried out our very own investigation and fair test to find out the cleanest surface in the classroom. We will be taking a look at, and recording the results soon – we continue to watch the mould grow!
