INSPECTION Staff, Parents and pupils of Abbey Infant School in Smethwick, West Midlands have a lot to cheer about! The school has recently been inspected and has come out with flying colours, continuing to be a 'good school.' Inspectors are thrilled at the school's approach to reading, as well as its rigorous training for staff so that phonics are taught effectively to all pupils. The school is also prioritising handwriting, which has seen a decline due to the pandemic, and pupils have been taking pride in their written work. The school has also been praised for its 'Abbey Promise' which helps children learn to take responsibility for their actions by saying sorry meaningfully. Leaders make sure that pupils are aware of what bullying is and teach them to act on bullying concerns. To make sure that pupils are well prepared for life in modern Britain, the school has a bucket list of activities which include a beach trip, a theatre visit, and learning to play a musical instrument. The school has also been praised for its support of pupils with SEN and disabilities, ensuring they get the help they need to be successful. Parents and pupils of Abbey Infant School can rest assured that the school is doing a great job in preparing their children for the future!

Thanks to everyone in Abbey for working so hard!
