When Nightingale was established in 2010, it began training learners while actively pursuing accreditation. Fifteen years later, the organization has grown far beyond our brick-and-mortar beginnings in Ogden, Utah. What started as a small campus full of dreams has become a large- scale organization dedicated to building a relevantly skilled, readily available nursing workforce, representative of the communities they serve. This transformation has been possible because we have embraced change as a necessary part of growth. By adapting, evolving, and staying aligned to our purpose, we have built a collective of 1,000 voices who together shape the future of health care.

While our size and scale are evolving, our purpose, pathway, and impact remain constant. Our growth reflects the important work we do, and from a strategic standpoint, it ensures we are building long-term stability as a college and an organization. To support sustainable growth nationwide, our transition to state- based enrollment and marketing pods allows us to better focus on our intentions and support learners more effectively. These changes are aligned with “The Three R’s,” helping us improve the state of health across the country. In many ways, this concentration brings us back to our roots, and that return — along with other key initiatives — represents a vital approach to our growth and purpose.

5

With our growth, we remain focused on scaling

responsibly and sustainably, and facilitating that growth means viewing the organization through AI and other tools. This approach allows us to support our mission while growing with intention. Our aim is not to be at the forefront of AI but to use it strategically to achieve our organizational goals. We know that AI brings significant change, and naturally, questions may arise about what it means for your role and our work, but AI is here to elevate your impact at Nightingale, not replace you. Your role as a collaborator remains essential and valuable, and AI allows us to enhance our abilities as a tool that will support our work. From the perspective of progress, innovative design, and moving forward, AI touches every part of our organization, and as a technology-driven company, we want everyone to see AI as an opportunity, not a threat. While we continue to evolve, embracing change can be uncomfortable, but it’s how we grow, improve, and remain true to who we are.

6

Every step of the Nightingale journey has been fueled by purpose-driven change, and reaching 1,000 collabo- rators is a powerful reflection of how far we have come and where we are headed. This milestone is more than a number; it marks the beginning of new possibilities. Crossing the 1,000 mark means we now have 1,000 individuals united and working toward the same goal. This achievement is a collection of 1,000 voices, minds, and hearts unified by a shared mission to create a better world through better humanity and better health. Each collaborator brings unique perspectives and new growth opportunities. Together, we are creating real impact, which

As we continue to directly influence the health of the communities we serve, we look forward to the next thousand collaborators being just as committed as the first. Our current collaborator body reflects not only our pathway but the culture we have worked to build. This milestone brings to life a vision we have held for years, offering us a glimmer of the reality we have worked so hard to achieve. The alignment of so many individuals who have chosen to join us in our purpose proves that our culture is strong, and that alone is inspiring.

means more innovation, more collaboration, more purpose, more technology, and more of our incredible culture.

7

NOT JUST ANOTHER DEVELOPER

Looking ahead, we must stay grounded in our purpose, embrace change, and remain focused on our strategic priorities as well as committed to “The Three R’s.” There are simple yet powerful steps we can take over the next few years to create real change, and we are equipped with the capability, skills, and momentum to keep moving forward because: THE FUTURE IS NOT WAITING, AND NEITHER ARE WE.

Our California bill, AB 1082, along with hundreds of other bills, was halted in the Assembly Appropriations Committee because of California’s large budget deficit this year. However, efforts are underway to resurrect the bill during the last few weeks of the session in September. We are also actively involved in preparing for the Board of Registered Nursing’s sunset review next year, where the Board must prove their worth to the Legislature. We are well prepared to be an influential voice during that review, and we feel confident that a provision for out-of-state distance education programs will be added to the sunset review bill. We will share additional info soon. Momentum Builds to Revive California AB 1082; Sunset Review Sparks Renewed Focus

No More Borderline Learning – California Lawmaker Aims to Keep Online Nursing Students In-State

Recently featured on page 31 of the Fresno Business Journal , collaborator Blake Halladay, Director of Regulatory and Legislative Strategy, talked with journalist Ben Hensley about the current restrictions that burden thousands of students enrolled in distance programs in California. Currently, California requires students in distance nursing programs to travel out of state for clinical training, a policy Assemblymember Heath Flora believes discourages graduates from seeking jobs within the state. The College has over 5,000 learners in the state of California, and making sure that these learners receive training

and skills in their communities is more important than ever.

Paycom and Outlook Photo Integration

The CX and IT functions are excited to roll out a new automation system designed for your convenience. The photo you upload to Paycom will automatically sync with Outlook and Teams. With this update, collaborators will only need to upload their photos in one place. This will allow collaborators to put faces to names when reading emails or chatting on Teams. Before you upload your photo to Paycom, please consider the following:

Please note, if you do not have a recent professional headshot, a selfie is perfectly fine if it follows the rules. After Flame Forward!, headshots taken at the conference will be uploaded to Paycom on your behalf. If you prefer to use a different headshot, you may upload one that meets the above guidelines once the conference photos have been added.

Make sure your photo is a headshot that clearly shows your face.

Use a photo taken within the past year.

Ensure you are the only person in the photo.

Make certain that the photo is professional and appropriate for the workplace. Headshots in business casual dress or Nightingale-branded clothing are preferred.

SPARK Camp Jump-starts Students’ Interest in Healthcare Careers

The future of health care is taking shape, one student at a time. As Nevada continues to face a critical shortage of nurses and health- care professionals, Clark County students scrubbed in and got a head start in saving lives thanks to a joint effort between the Nightingale Foundation, University Medical Center of Southern

Nevada, and the Clark County School District in Las Vegas. SPARK Camps are not just a summer activity, but a pipeline to the front- lines of health care, helping students learn lifesaving skills and explore the vast world of health care all before high school. To learn more about this life-changing opportunity, read the article on KLAS.

International Day of Friendship

International Day of Friendship was observed on July 30 and has an enlightening history. Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 with the idea that friendship between people, countries, cultures, and individuals can inspire peace efforts, the hope is that this day will inspire individuals to build bridges between their own communities.

Building community is one of our core values at Nightingale Education Group. On International Day of Friendship — during Flame Forward! and every day — we encourage our fellow collaborators to promote unity, get to know one another, and celebrate the value of friendship and collaboration. For ideas on how to support a culture of peace and harness the power of the human spirit through friendship, visit the United Nations website.

Bonnie Fecowicz Vice President, Nightingale Solutions

“I was in a webinar with Bonnie and really admired her passion and love for nursing. I aspire to be where she is one day. I have been a CNA for five years and specialized in CCU and post-op surgical care, and recently I transitioned to surgical technology. Currently, I do ortho but am building my way up to cardiothoracic. I eat, sleep, and breathe health care and it has always been my passion to take care of people and progress in my career. Bonnie reminded me of that, and I appreciate her and her team's insights.” Hana Sanders Nightingale Learner

Hanna Fox Supervisor, Admissions

Tara Cote Advisor II, Program Enrollment

“We had a fellow collaborator who needed some help while her husband was undergoing chemotherapy, so we decided to plan family meals for this collaborator’s family. Hannah Fox bought groceries, and we went over to Tara’s house to cook. Tara then took charge and put together two weeks’ worth of meals for the family. It was an honor and a pleasure to work with these amazing ladies and to help one of our fellow collaborators and her family in their time of need.” Lisa Rasmussen Advisor III, Program Enrollment

WHAT MAKES WORKING AT NIGHTINGALE EDUCATION GROUP SO GREAT?

“Nightingale Education Group has an incredible community of profession- als who truly invest in one another’s growth. From day one, I was wel- comed into a culture of authenticity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. I feel grateful for my amazing Expe- riential Learning team, whose sup- port has empowered me to balance multiple roles, continue to serve in the military, and pursue my doctor of nursing practice degree. Their encouragement has allowed me to thrive as my full, authentic self. That kind of understanding and flexibility is rare, and it speaks volumes about the inclusive and empowering envi- ronment Nightingale fosters.

In my role, I have the privilege of watching learners grow into con - fident, compassionate clinicians. It’s rewarding to be a part of their journey and witness the impact of education on their lives and the communities they serve. I love being part of a team that uplifts one an- other and shares a collective mission of shaping the future of nursing through education. Nightingale is a place where I feel challenged and supported, two qualities essential for meaningful growth. Being part of this organization isn’t just a job; it’s a purpose-driven experience that con- tinually motivates me to grow, lead, and give back.”

Sean Gwin Faculty Manager, Nursing Education

“When I talk to my friends, I tell them Nightingale is ‘lit.’ When I talk to new collaborators, I tell them Nightin - gale is supportive. When I talk to my children, I tell them Nightingale gives me more time with them. When I am talking to my fiancé, I tell him that I belong to Nightingale for one week every year, so don’t plan our wedding in August. Nightingale is the first place I’ve worked where I genuinely believe people care about me, not just as a collaborator, but as a whole per- son. I’ve always struggled to be my full self at work, holding back and worried about being ‘too bubbly’ or ‘too excited.’ But here, that energy is welcomed. This company listens, encourages collaboration, commu- nity building, and creates space for real growth. Over the past two years, I’ve grown so much personally and professionally because I’ve been met with openness. Because of that I am healthier both physically and mentally. The work-life balance is unmatched, and the culture that has been created here makes Nightingale feel like a person, not a place. Yes, the organization technically lives on my computer, but every morning, I

run down the stairs excited to log on and work with amazing people. If you know me, you know I am a ball of en- ergy and Nightingale makes it feel OK for me to be that person. I’ve never made a 5-10-year plan that includes my job until now and it’s very moving to have a space you love so much. My manager, Stacie, supports my ideas. My mentor, Michelle, encour- ages them. Susana congratulated me before I led my first training. Becky has made me feel useful. Nina re- membered a fun conversation we had a year ago. Tenika showed me around the organization, and among other collaborators I have made best friends with Benjamin and Ivan. Thais and I share the same name, and Brandy, I just love her. Tyler always knows I want a selfie and Tyler from IT is my favorite person to catch up with. Nina Skipps and Breann even helped my friend Brittney get home during the conference so she could say goodbye to her sister. It’s wild how close you can get to people you only see once a year. Truly, what could possibly not be great about working at Nightingale? If I had to answer this question in two words, it would be ‘the people.’”

Tyece Benjamin Advisor II, Program Enrollment Admissions

Two champions in their respective fields, Hal Gregersen and Phil Gwoke, have mastered the art of asking empowering questions, driving innovation, and fostering meaningful connections. Both speakers believe that change is constant, and that building a strong organizational framework requires asking the right questions and communicating with empathy. Through their keynotes, they will immerse us in what it means to embrace uncertainty, build mutual under- standing, and develop high-performing teams that are prepared for the future.

26

Hal Gregersen, is a renowned leadership expert at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a cofounder of the Innovator’s DNA consulting group. Throughout his career, Hal has been dedicated to cultivating cultures of fearless inquiry and to helping leaders transform their organizations into innovative powerhouses. In his award- winning book Questions Are the Answer: A Breakthrough Approach to Your Most Vexing Problems at Work and in Life , he challenges the convention - al focus of looking for answers and argues that the real catalyst for innova- tive and disruptive change is inquiry. Hal encourages individuals to step into unfamiliar environments, engage with

different perspectives, and challenge the status quo. In his career, he has developed a method that helps organiza- tions build better problem solvers, boost creative impact, and embrace a culture centered around constructive questioning. Based on his experience, Hal emphasizes the importance of intentionally setting aside time to ex- plore the world through the lens of active learning. Having worked with a wide range of prominent companies, Hal makes it clear that the better the question, the better the answer, and the better the world works. At the heart of his message is the belief that we must be challenge driven at work and in life to be successful.

27

An internationally recognized speaker, Phil Gwoke, has inspired audiences in 47 different states and 4 continents. Deeply rooted in his local community as a mentor and consultant, Phil has made it his life’s mission to help people excel by bringing out the best in every generation. A passionate genera- tional expert, Phil specializes in developing strategies that enhance intergenerational communication and collaboration. A proud Gen Xer, he understands the common experience of talking with someone from a different generation and feeling like you’re speaking entirely different languages. His insights reveal how generational dynamics impact businesses and why it should matter to an organization.

In his keynote, Phil will help all genera- tions better understand whom they’re working with, whom they’re talking to, and who their fellow collaborators are so that everyone can work more effectively together, build bridges, and foster strong, cohesive teams. Through an interactive convesation where he uses different topics to spark lively conversations, Phil will create opportunities for genera- tional discussion in the room. In building relationships that will help us be successful, he will also give collaborators actionable tips and tools they can imple- ment immediately to improve leadership, communication, team building, diversity and inclusion, and prepare for the work- place of the future.

28

EMPOWERING YOU TO LEAD WITH INSIGHT, ACT WITH INTENTION, AND GROW WITH PURPOSE,

Hal Gregersen and Phil Gwoke offer transformative insights that will challenge us to think differently, ask better questions, and enhance collaboration so that we can build an even stronger organization.

We hope that through their keynotes, you walk away with fresh perspectives and practical tools that will allow you to better serve your functions, the organization, and the commitment we have to the communities we serve.

‘Seeds for Growth’ – Growth Mindset Self-transcendence

Self-transcendence can be challeng- ing to achieve. According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, a person who achieves transcendence reaches the highest level of human conscious- ness, seeing themselves as part of a greater universal whole and becoming connected with other

beings on a deeply spiritual level. This state often arises through spirituality, the pursuit of wisdom and knowledge, and meaningful connections with others. We encour- age each of you to commit to the journey towards transcendence. The journey will be worthwhile.

Work-from-Home Tip Number 17: Foster Team-Engagement Opportunities

Working remotely can often feel isolating, making it more challenging for team members to stay con- nected. Flame Forward! is the perfect opportunity to maintain team engagement and build a sense of community. After the conference, try to create regular opportunities for social interaction. This can include

virtual team-building activities, motivational Teams chats, and informal virtual lunches or coffee breaks. These interactions not only help team members feel more connected but also strengthen relationships, boost morale, and enhance collaboration.

A LEGACY OF IMPACT: MIKHAIL SHNEYDER PASSES THE TORCH TO DR. MARY BITTNER Built on a dream and fueled by the mission to empower others through access and opportunity, Mikhail Shneyder, DNEd (hc), MBA, RN, has served as the president of the Board of Directors of Nightingale Foundation since its inception in January 2022. Throughout his tenure, Mikhail has been an invaluable asset to the formation, steady growth,

In May 2025, Mikhail announced his resignation as board president. Thanks to his exceptional leadership, Nightingale Foundation has trans- formed countless lives. Although stepping back from board duties, his impact will endure, and he will continue supporting the Foundation. Thank you, Mikhail, for the energy and passion you have brought to the Foundation. Your investment in nursing education is invaluable. Following Mikhail’s tenure, Dr. Mary Bittner will be the new board president. A nurse leader with 34 years of healthcare operations experience, she brings deep exper- tise and commitment to the Foundation’s mission, having led services in various settings and worked with Caravan Health after her 2014 retirement.

and accomplishments of Nightingale Foundation.

As a founding member, Mikhail helped develop the Foundation’s mission, vision, and focus. He championed the board, built its infrastructure, and established the Shneyder & Kirk Reaching the Impossible Scholarship Fund, aiding Nightingale learners who completed remedial coursework to enter the prelicensure BSN program. His work has opened pathways for individuals pursuing nursing careers.

32

Supporting innovative and inclusive education that fosters growth for nursing students and adults returning to college is vital,” said Mary. Investing in the future of nursing education has led to my desire to participate as a member

of the Nightingale Foundation Board.”

Mary believes care coordination is essential for effective population health management and healthcare improvement. She remains active in the profession through the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), American Organization for Nurse Leaders (AONL), Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN), and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (STTI). After nine years on Nightingale Education Group’s Board of Trustees, Mary values stepping into the role of board president.

As we mark this transition in leader- ship, the Foundation celebrates the visionary groundwork laid by Mikhail Shneyder and looks forward to the exciting future ahead under Dr. Mary Bittner’s guidance. Nightingale Foun- dation remains devoted to its vision of improving the nation’s health out- comes, health equity, and eliminating the nursing shortage, and has deep optimism for what lies ahead.

A YEAR OF GROWTH

A full year has passed since Nightingale College began investing in its Alumni Association, and the progress from its early vision to what it has become has been truly remarkable. Bernard C. Austin III, Director of Alumni Relations, set out to better understand the needs of Nightingale graduates, aiming to build a function that alum- ni can rely on for resources and support beyond graduation. Continuing to build and strengthen the relationship between the graduates and the College was the focal point of my original vision,” said Bernard. “Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to engage directly with alumni, allowing us to shape the association around what they need, particularly in the area of workforce development.” Over the past year, Bernard has led the Alumni Association as a team of one, increasing engagement and brain- storming new ways to offer leadership opportunities, advanced training, and continued education.

34

Last August, Bernard laid the foundation of the Alumni Association by launching a website, establish- ing communication channels, and building a social media presence to create a hub for alumni. He then personally reached out to graduates to introduce himself and the newly formed function helping them understand its purpose and benefits. As part of his efforts to foster community, Bernard also came up with the idea for the alumni pin that is sent to graduates as both a symbol of pride and a way to connect with fellow alumni in the workplace. This initiative helped graduates feel more connect- ed and visible, both professionally and personally. Bernard is now in the process of establishing an Alumni Advisory Board, which will serve as a strategic bridge between the College and its alumni, further solidifying the function’s role and expanding its impact.

THE EVOLUTION OF NIGHTINGALE’S ALUMNI RELATIONS FUNCTION

35

Over the last year, the enthusiastic responses from alumni after years of little to no engagement inspired Bernard. “It surprised me how warm the welcome was and how everyone was so eager to learn more,” said Bernard. “It shows me that the education being received at the College is deeply valued, and our impact goes further than we realize.”

Bernard emphasizes that throughout this journey, he would not have been successful without the support of many. He credits hundreds of collaborators, his prior experience, a strong growth mindset, and the guidance of Dr. Jeffrey Olsen for helping him generate creative ideas, build meaningful connections, and lead with trust and vision.

36

Looking ahead, Bernard plans to introduce the Alumni Association to learners early in their academic journey, ensuring their contact info is up to date and they’re aware of the future resources available. He also aims to expand the College’s partnership with BenefitHub, offering learners and graduates access to discounts on hundreds of items. Another key initiative is the development of microcredentials that will be designed to help alumni reach specific career goals.

The coming year will focus on better understanding our graduates, highlighting their achievements, sharing their stories, identifying their evolving needs, and discovering how we can support their long-term success. After a year of hard work and meaningful progress, the Alumni Association is no longer just an idea. It’s a thriving resource for graduates seeking connection, support, and advancement.

37

LET FLAME FORWARD! REFRESH AND RECHARGE YOU It’s the best time of the year! Flame Forward! is a unique and meaningful experience where we get to see our fellow collaborators in real life (IRL), learn about Nightingale’s successes and plans, and listen to incredible speakers. Even though Flame Forward! is all that and a bag of chips, it might feel a bit stressful at times. Going from a work-from-home environ- ment to a packed conference room might leave some of us feeling a bit overwhelmed. Feeling stressed from a situation that is different from what you’re used to is a natural human response. Still, there are some things you can do to help keep you energized during the event and feel refreshed when you head back home to start planning for the rest of the year and beyond.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH.

Travel often disrupts our normal sleep, nutrition, and exercise habits. Do your best to find ways to prioritize taking care of your physical well-being by drinking plenty of water, getting seven-to-nine hours of sleep at night, and doing some physical activity. You can keep track of your healthy habits on Personify Health.

Find a small way to have fun and feel joy during the event. This might be something like Taco Tuesday with your team, one-song dance parties during a break, or taking a walk at a nearby park. Find something you like to do and make sure to do it. DO SOMETHING THAT BRINGS YOU JOY.

38

PRACTICE THE PAUSE.

Even though our days will be packed with great learning opportunities and high-fives with friends, give yourself permission to pause. You can do this by taking a couple of slow breaths before engaging in conversation, savoring your food during lunch and dinner, or having a more formal meditation or mindfulness session. No matter how short the pause is, it helps us to calm our bodies and minds.

PRIORITIZE CONNECTION.

One of our most valued experiences at Flame Forward! comes from connections with collaborators and friends, new and old. These connections help us recharge our batteries and remind us why we do the work we do. If your social battery feels drained from being in a room full of people, seek out meaningful one-on-one conversations. If you love group vibes, prioritize team dinners.

HERE ARE SOME ADDITIONAL TIPS TO MAKE YOUR CONNECTIONS MORE MEANINGFUL AND REVITALIZING:

BE AUTHENTIC.

At Nightingale, we want you to show up as your full and true self. This also goes for making connections. Being honest and authentic by practicing vulnerability, having an open mind, and truly listening during conversations can go a long way. You have so much to offer, exactly as you are, and there is no need to pretend to be something else.

Flame Forward! is our time to come together, make incredible memories, and get energized to go out into the world to help make it a better place. Use this time together to refresh, connect, and prepare for what lies ahead.

Some folks thrive in larger groups, while others crave one-on-one time. Some folks can talk all night, while others cher - ish some quiet moments. Do your best to understand your own connection needs and don’t be afraid to ask others what they are seeking. EVERYONE CONNECTS IN DIFFERENT

BE INTENTIONAL.

Making connections is something we need to be intentional about. We will be in an environment rich with opportunities to connect and collaborate, and it’s up to us to make the most of it. Take time to get to know the person sitting next to you during lunch or have a conversation with the newest member of your team. When we make the extra effort to connect, we all win.

If you need extra support while at Flame Forward! (or any time), you can call our EAP for immediate counseling and support at 800-252-4555.

Nightingale Classifieds

There are many roles available the rest of 2025, and with these roles come referral bonuses. Referrals have always been a crucial part of how we grow, and below you can find more information about the current incentive bonuses that are in place when you refer a new collaborator. Referral Bonus Program A $250 referral bonus is available for all positions. $500, $750, and $1,000+ referral bonuses are available for certain positions (manager, director, assistant professor, assistant vice president, etc.).

We want to encourage our fellow collaborators to join the Talent Acquisition channel on Teams so that they can view and share current positions and referral oppor- tunities, celebrate new hires, acknowledge promotions, and more. If you need assistance accessing the channel, you can ask any mem- ber of the TA function for help. Looking for a more in-depth list of current positions? Visit the career page on our website.
