“When I talk to my friends, I tell them Nightingale is ‘lit.’ When I talk to new collaborators, I tell them Nightin - gale is supportive. When I talk to my children, I tell them Nightingale gives me more time with them. When I am talking to my fiancé, I tell him that I belong to Nightingale for one week every year, so don’t plan our wedding in August. Nightingale is the first place I’ve worked where I genuinely believe people care about me, not just as a collaborator, but as a whole per- son. I’ve always struggled to be my full self at work, holding back and worried about being ‘too bubbly’ or ‘too excited.’ But here, that energy is welcomed. This company listens, encourages collaboration, commu- nity building, and creates space for real growth. Over the past two years, I’ve grown so much personally and professionally because I’ve been met with openness. Because of that I am healthier both physically and mentally. The work-life balance is unmatched, and the culture that has been created here makes Nightingale feel like a person, not a place. Yes, the organization technically lives on my computer, but every morning, I
run down the stairs excited to log on and work with amazing people. If you know me, you know I am a ball of en- ergy and Nightingale makes it feel OK for me to be that person. I’ve never made a 5-10-year plan that includes my job until now and it’s very moving to have a space you love so much. My manager, Stacie, supports my ideas. My mentor, Michelle, encour- ages them. Susana congratulated me before I led my first training. Becky has made me feel useful. Nina re- membered a fun conversation we had a year ago. Tenika showed me around the organization, and among other collaborators I have made best friends with Benjamin and Ivan. Thais and I share the same name, and Brandy, I just love her. Tyler always knows I want a selfie and Tyler from IT is my favorite person to catch up with. Nina Skipps and Breann even helped my friend Brittney get home during the conference so she could say goodbye to her sister. It’s wild how close you can get to people you only see once a year. Truly, what could possibly not be great about working at Nightingale? If I had to answer this question in two words, it would be ‘the people.’”
