First Alaska Mining Day

Hard to believe it has been seven years since we celebrated the first Alaska Mining Day. Steve Connelly of Eklutna Inc. shared this favorite memory of his son Evan and daughter Grace from that day: "They were on their way to South Anchorage High School where they had told me one of their teachers had anti-Pebble stickers on their lectern. They were more than ready to take on the fight including with the Pebble magnet on the car they drove. They have both graduated college, with Grace as a nurse and Evan with a mechanical engineering degree. Their older brother Tom is a heavy diesel mechanic. They all know and appreciate what mining provides for our everyday life!" Photo courtesy Steve Connelly
