profession. A quote I read recently said, “A teacher affects eternity; he or she can never tell where his or her influ- ence stops”. Unfortunately it is too often a thankless profession. But we can all appreciate that without our teachers we would not be as successful as we are today. Thank you to the many teachers out there!
Walking Club Update
by Jamie Cooper & Erika Meiners 5 races down and 2 more to go for the 2016 Walking Club season! June and July were especially busy for the Walk- ing Club as we completed 3 events: the KB Tough Run 5K in Oregon, the Reagan Run 5K in Dixon and the Miles in Memory 5K in Byron. The KB Tough Run was just like it was intended it to be – tough! 30 Crest employees showed up to complete the race on this HOT June afternoon at the White Pines Horse Ranch. Despite the heat, team runners (June Danekas, Matthias Kemmeren, Jared Stumpenhorst & Jim Rhodes) defended their KB Tough Run Corporate Challenge Title with the fastest team time of the race, which puts an extra $1000 in the account for charity. We had 46 employees participate in the Reagan Run 5K in early July, and 34 in the Miles in Memory 5K a few weeks later. The Reagan Run typically is the largest event that we participate in with close to 1600 people, while the Miles in Memory is a much smaller event that takes place at the Byron Forest Preserve. By the time this Crest Ink hits mailboxes we will be all finished for the season and will do a wrap up of the entire year in the next issue.
