He began his career in law enforcement as a Corrections Of- ficer at the Douglas County Sheriff ’s Department Omaha, Nebraska (1997- 2000); Corrections Officer at the Shelby County Sheriff ’s Department Shelby County, Alabama (2000-2002); Police Officer in Leeds, Alabama (2002-2007); and Police Officer in Fairfield, Alabama (2007-2011). In 2011, Sergeant Carter joined the Birmingham Police Department on July 18, 2011. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on February 17, 2018. ” Brother WyTasha “Wyt” Carter is sur- vived by his devoted wife and Silhou- ette of 21 years, Tiphanie (nee Phelps) Carter, two children, Dashae Box Carter and Taelen Lamar Carter; parents, Ron- ald and Brenda Carter; brother, WyKio Carter (Korliss) and sister, WyTeria Washington (Marcus); and host of close relatives, friends, law enforcement col- leagues in the Birmingham, Fairfield, Leeds and Omaha, NB communities.

Walker Manufacturing Company as a sales and advertising manager. The namesake of the company was the famed African American entrepreneur and businesswoman and who was the great-grandmother of Bundles’ wife. He left the position to join Summit Laboratories, an international hair care company, as its president and CEO. Under his leadership, Summit Laboratories became one of the nation's top manufacturers of ethnic hair products. After the death of his first wife, A’Lelia Mae Perry Bundles, Bundles founded and launched Center for Leadership Development (CLD), an organization, based in Indianapolis, designed to prepare youth of color to become professional, business and community leaders. According to CLD, three generations of CLD alumni hold leadership positions throughout the world in medicine, law, education, finance, media, ministry and other professions. They all remember the mantra Mr. Bundles quoted at the beginning of every session: “In Time. On Time. Every Time. Except when ahead of time, and that’s better time.” Bundles supported the Indianapolis community for many years serving on numerous boards and organizations including a director of the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association and of the Indianapolis 500 Festival. He was a founding director of Midwest National Bank and advocated for minority businesses as chairman of the Indianapolis Business Development Foundation. A long-time supporter of his alma mater, Bundles was a co-founder of IU’s Neal-Marshall Alumni Club created to increase African American alumni participation.

Of his numerous honors and achievements, CLD awards to individuals the S. Henry Bundles Jr. Award for service to the Center for Leadership Development. In 1999, Bundles was inducted as a member of the Hall of Fame in the American Health and Beauty Aids Institute for his pioneering and visionary accomplishments. A Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , Bundles moved to Sarasota, FL in his retirement years and joined the Sarasota (FL) Alumni Chapter. Brother Samuel Henry Bundles, Jr. is survived by his wife, Helen Baker Bundles; three children (A'Lelia P., Lance and Mark Bundles); a stepdaughter, Liz Hickman.
