STATE OF THE NORTHERN PROVINCE

Executive Summary The State of the Northern Province is strong under the leadership of the 33 rd Administration and our 33 rd Grand Polemarch Brother Thomas L. Battles, Jr. The foundation of our strength is a supportive bond of brotherhood and outstanding servant leadership across the Province. In support of the Grand Polemarch’s Six-Point Plan we have done the following during the 33 rd Ad- ministration: • Community Service – We im- pacted approximately 2,670 students via Guide Right; donated in excess of $250,000.00 to national, province and local supported programs (St. Jude, Smithsonian African American Museum, Senior Kappa Affairs En- dowment Fund, Disaster Relief, local Scholarships, etc.); held two Learn 2 Live forums; been actively engaged in political action initiatives; were visible servant leaders supporting the Flint, MI community and their water crisis. • Infrastructure – Established the Diamond Achievement Foundation to support the Province’s philan- thropic goals; enhanced our techno- logical infrastructure to streamline our administrative processes. • Undergraduate Development – We continually encourage a province- wide culture of “supporting the Undergraduate Member”; provided $15,500 in Undergraduate Member scholarships; reactivated two Under- graduate Chapters; established the goal of a province-wide GPA of 3.0 by 2020. • Reclamation – We have reclaimed 216 brothers and 14 through the Member Re-Engagement Program. • New Member Recruitment – We initiated 412 new members out of 782 interested aspirants. • Executive Leadership Training and

Succession Planning – We have en- hanced delivery of our annual C. Rod- ger Wilson Leadership Conference training with supplemental webinars and “face-to-face” candid discussions to train the next generation of servant leaders in our Province. 1. Community Service • Organized Province wide effort to provide bottled water and other sup- port to the community of Flint, MI during their on-going water crisis (led by Flint (MI) Alumni Chapter) • We have donated over $250,000 as a total Province through all chapters for various national, provincial and lo- cal initiatives. Some of the highlights are as follows: • Won the online challenge to raise funds for Rape Kit Testing in the county of Wayne in Michigan. Raised $7,500 of the $30,000 raised in total (led by the Detroit (MI) Alumni Chapter) • Raised approximately $35,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2015 to date with additional Sunday of Hope Programs planned in 2019. • Pledged $40,000 over five years for Smithsonian African American Mu- seum project. $24,000 has been paid. • 22 brothers supported the Senior Kappa Affairs Endowment Fund and fulfilled their $500 pledge at an amount of $11,000. • Approximately $200,000 in giving through local chapter foundations to local initiatives and disaster relief efforts. Guide Right/Kappa League • Since 2015 we impacted approxi-

Programs across eight Chapters in the Province • 200 youths in Kappa League • 689 youths in Guide Right Programs like little league football, Junior Kappa League, etc. • Sponsored two Learn 2 Live forums in Detroit, MI. Detroit Pershing High School in 2017 and Detroit Service- Learning Academy in 2018. • Held two successful Kappas at the MI State Capitol events in 2018 and 2019. Over 120 Kappa Men across the State of MI have participated engaging State Legislators on issues of importance within our community. • Supported the Divine 9 “Voter Takeover” initiative for the 2018 Mid- term Elections. 2 . Infrastructure • Established the Diamond Achieve- ment Foundation in 2017 to support the philanthropic goals of the North- ern Province. • Formalized our risk management team structure and processes with three focus areas: Administrative (Chapter Certification & Chapter Compliance), Investigative and En- forcement. • Implemented “cloud storage” solu- tion to maintain important Province level documents, records and data. • Refreshed web presence. • Integrated webform tools to main- stream event registration processes and quarterly collection of chapter reports. • Established “official” social media accounts and pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. 3. Undergraduate Development • Developed an Undergraduate Sup- port Model to support the following: • Guide undergraduate brothers through their undergraduate experi-
