Eta Mu Hosts Chapter Celebration with its Seven Living Charter Members

C onsidering Kappa Alpha Psi's Mu of Kappa Alpha Psi ® held a celebra- tion with the seven living charter mem- bers of the Eta Mu Chapter in Anniston, Alabama area. The surviving Charter Members were Bernard Abrams, James B. Adams, William W. Almont III, Ralph D. Armstrong, Tommy D. Hughley, Larry Satcher and John T. Woody. The Eta Mu Charter Members were initiated into the fraternity via the Beta Zeta Chapter at Alabama State University in the fall of 1971. These are truly distinguished gentlemen. Among them are two of the first African American basketball players (starters!) at JSU. Of the Charter Members, two were on of the first African American CPAs in the state of Alabama. Current and recent Eta Mu Chapter brothers joined them as did the Anniston- Piedmont (AL) Alumni Polemarch, the first Chapter Advisor, other members of the Anniston- Piedmont (AL) Alumni Six-Point Plan, the Jacksonville State University Chapter, the Eta

Chapter including 77 th Elder Watson Diggs Awardee Cleophus Thomas, Jr. Esq. and Charles Wilson. Other brothers present were: Elijah Slaughter, Ronald Carrington, Ralph Armstrong, Tommy Hughley, John T. Woody, Charles Wilson, Breon Moore, Billy Almon, James Green, Nashby Fils, Tyrone Smiley, Jaylon Williams, Donald Smith, Kemuel Williams, Christian Hen- son, Marcus Carter and Donald Smith. Finally, we thank Grand Polemarch Thom- as L. Battles, Jr. The resurgence of Kappa activity in this area is a direct result of his excellent leadership and his appearance in this area at the 2019 Northeast Alabama Founders’ Day. The chapter realized that with planning and support of the Alumni members, these kinds of events are an excellent tool for reclamation. The Eta Mu Chapter was chartered on May 17, 1974. This is an example of how our undergraduate chap- ters embraced the Six-Point Plan in the Southern Province.
