Hurricane after hurricane has tested Florida’s coastlines. But when Ian loomed, Babcock Ranch stood like an exhale in a state holding its breath. “Our homes? They didn’t lose power. Didn’t lose internet. Our residents sheltered in place and watched the storm on TV,” Tyler says, still visibly moved. “It’s surreal—watching something so powerful from a place of safety.” That safety is no accident. All utilities are buried underground. Homes are built above code, with FGBC certifications and resilient infrastructure. Built in response to Hurricane Irma, it stands now as a safe haven not just for residents, but for neighboring towns in times of crisis. Storm-Proven, Shelter- Strong
