AMA and the Council of Alaska Producers teamed up again Aug. 21 to sponsor Alaska Mining Day at The Alaska State Fair. Several dozen AMA members and other volunteers spread the good news of mining in Alaska by handing out thousands of bright green “Alaska Mining Rocks” backpacks. This year our timing was perfect, as the first Saturday of the Fair brought brilliant weather with sunny skies and massive crowds — all the better to remind Alaskans of mining’s contributions. Even with COVID-19 precautions that prevent our popular gold panning booth, it was a great day for Alaska mining. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make this possible!
