same direction as the morning’s peti tion.—Alexandèr -Maclarefl.’ Quiet Refreshment "Mary hath chosen that good part” (Lk. i0:42). Through the clamor and strife of our noisy and restless modern world, the calm, c l e a r Word of the Lord reaches down to us: "Be still, and know that I am God.” Mary sat still at the Master’s feet, but her spirit was ac tive. There Is sound sense in the prac tice of scholars and spiritual leaders occasionally retiring i n t o “retreats," there to have their minds and spirits refreshed and recharged with mental and spiritual energy.—E. Unnecessary Concern

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil. 4:19). The Lord Jesus proffers the secret of carefree living. He assures us that the worldly affairs . . . surrendered into His keeping are the subject of God’s-• peculiar care . . . In the higher spiritual realm, we are neither saved nor sancti fied by personal effort and struggle; and if that truth is verified in expe rience, then anxiety concerning things on the lower plane is unnecessary be cause “your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things." —The Christian. filled. How they listened to the mes sage! We did not pay much attention to the cracking of the floor, but as we were singing our last chorus, the rotten beam underneath the floor broke, and the children went down. The basement was very deep, and we were all fright ened, but no one was hurt. Because the people are intensely, superstitious, my first thought was th$t nobody would come to the evening meeting. But praise the Lord; We had the floor repaired, got boards and put in more benches, and the room was filled before it was time for the meeting to begin. And how the Lord blessed us! Ten boys and girls courageously gave their testimony for Jesus Christ—and that means much in that town. “In another towh, I stayed with the pastdr’s family, and we had children’s meetings for ten days, every morning. The center of the community is the market place, and the houses are all far away in the mountains. But even so, we had more than sixty children here for Sunday-school. . . . “Here comes my examination (on the Child E v a n g e l i s m Correspondence Course) from S--------- M--------------, where I am staying for a few weeks. This course surely has been a source of real inspiration and practical help to me. Since the rains began here, there is not much opportunity for work outside, so I am studying. We have children’s meet ings every Saturday, and twenty-five or more children attend. I covet "the , prayers of the Lord’s people for this work.” • • • A bulletin describing the course which this missionary is following and enjoy ing, and listing also o t h e r available courses, will be mailed gladly to any one who will address the Correspondence School, Bible Institute of Los Angeles, 558 S.
