Le conseiller municipal actuel de Clarence-Rockland, Trevor Stewart, a été officiellement nommé candidat du Parti libéral de l’Ontario dans la circons- cription de Glengarry-Prescott-Russell (G-P-R) pour les prochaines élections provinciales. M. Stewart a été officiellement confirmé comme candidat du parti lors d’une as- semblée de mise en candidature et d’une réception au Casselview Gold Club, situé à Casselman, le dimanche 29 septembre. Élu pour la première fois au conseil municipal en 2022, à l’âge de 23 ans, le jeune conseiller espère être la voix d’une circonscription qui, selon lui, a été largement ignorée par le premier ministre de l’Ontario, Doug Ford, et son gouvernement progres- siste-conservateur (PC). « Je veux ramener la prospérité dans G-P-R », a déclaré M. Stewart devant ses partisans, sa famille et ses amis au club de golf Casselview. « Je veux être clair. Je ne fais pas cela pour Doug Ford. Je ne travaille pas pour Doug Ford. Je suis ici pour vous, les habitants de cette circonscription ». M. Stewart, qui est né et a grandi à Ham- mond, s’est dit honoré d’être le représen- tant du parti pour les prochaines élections provinciales.

L’ancien maire de Rockland, Jean-Marc Lalonde, qui a également été député pro- vincial de la circonscription de G-P-R de 1995 à 2011, a manifesté son soutien à M. Charles Armstrong, 37-year Canadian Armed Forces veteran, is Russell Township’s latest councillor following the Monday, Sept. 30, by-election. As of Tuesday, Oct. 1, the unofficial vote count stood at 1278 for Armstrong, 878 for Jean-Yves Otis, 789 for Julian Hunt and 772 for Jevon Rudder.
