peoples than the percentage of fatal casualties in our military services; and WHEREAS, The students and gradu­ ates of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated, have been well represented in the armed services of our Country in two world wars, as chaplains and in the enlisted and commissioned ranks of the Army, the Air Force, the Navy and the Marine Corps, and many of the Institute faculty are themselves veterans of the first or second World Wars; and WHEREAS, A number of outstanding religious leaders in our own Nation have received their educational training at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, In­ corporated, serving in many different religious denominations. Many of the graduates have continued their educa­ tion through postgraduate training at many of our great universities and colleges, the names of which comprise an impressive list, and have established Splendid records for scholarship and academic achievement; and WHEREAS, Not a single graduate of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incor­ porated, has ever been involved in any subversive activities against the Govern­ ment of the United States or against the governments of the countries where they have gone; and WHEREAS, The Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated, is continually endeavoring to raise its academic stand­ ards and to offer a more complete edu­ cational service to its students in order that they may more effectively serve God and our Country and the other countries to which they may go to teach and serve; now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate of the State of California, That we do heartily com­ mend the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated, for the character of the service it is rendering to the youth and through them to our Country and to the many other friendly nations where its graduates have gone or will soon go; and be it further Resolved, That the various state-sup­ ported educational institutions be re­ quested to render all reasonable service and co-operation to the students of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incor­ porated, engaged in collegiate courses; and be it further Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to prepare a suitably prepared copy of this resolution and transmit it to the President of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated. — Senator Nelson S. Relating to the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated WHEREAS, For 44 years the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Incorporated, has been a growing educational institu­ tion dedicated whole-heartedly to the Christian American way of life with a program of general education, letters and science, and has had as its purpose the training of young people in the moral and spiritual truths of the Word of God and has been preparing them for service in schools and churches as community leaders and as teachers both at home and as missionaries from vari­ ous missionary boards to the people of other nations; and WHEREAS, The Institute is composed of four distinct schools, namely, the two-year Bible Institute, the four-year Biola Bible College, the three-year post­ graduate Talbot Theological Seminary, and one-year postgraduate school of missionary medicine, and has a distin­ guished faculty of accomplished educa­ tors with thorough academic training in the best universities of our Country, some of which have a record of study abroad; and WHEREAS, The Bible Institute of Los Angeles is entirely supported by the free-will offerings of churches and in­ dividuals for the purpose of offering this complete educational service free of tuition to a student body of 800 young people who could not otherwise afford such training; and WHEREAS, Ninety-two percent of the students are working part time to support themselves during their educa­ tional courses and participating in the youth activities and services of more than 300 churches in and around Los Angeles as teachers, superintendents, choir directors, student pastors, and other capacities, and engaging in many charitable services in missions, hospitals, and other ways; and WHEREAS, Thirty-seven hundred and eight graduates have completed their courses and gone out into Christian service in all parts of the world and have rendered signal service to friendly foreign governments in the education and training of their people. Thirteen hundred graduates have entered into foreign missionary service or are teach­ ing in more than 50 foreign nations including Japan, Formosa, Philippine Islands, Malaya, East Indies, Siam, India, Iran, Israel, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, nearly every other region in Africa, Turkey, Greece, Mexico, Guate­ mala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, and many other countries, with a larger percentage having given their lives in the service of native
