missionary endeavor. It is doubtless true that the radio is God’s answer to the desperate need of Spanish evangelicals to propagate the true faith among these benighted people. Puerto Rico Dr. Walter M. Montano of Christ’s Mission, New York City, recently con ducted a great one-month preaching mission on this island. The Mayor of Adjuntas officially welcomed the cam paign and proclaimed the doors of the city wide open. It was reported that some Roman Catholic priests were forced to close churches for lack of a congregation and also turned out for the meetings. Special fo r December There is a special treat in store for our readers in the December issue. As a Christmas present, we are publishing the pictures of our regular staff and regular authors, with some facts about them. In addition, there will be many heart warming articles, centering particularly about the Christmas theme, and a full- color, interesting cover.

Formosa A recent dispatch from Dick Hillis of the Formosa Gospel Crusade reports great victories of the gospel in that needy land. A strong feature of the For mosa work is the follow-up Bible study campaign, but many have destroyed gos pel literature intended for distribution. As always, there is great need of prayer. North Africa A “Voice of Christianity” station broadcasting Christian messages to peo ple behind the iron curtain expects to get into operation shortly. This station Is the work of Rev. Paul Freed, a Southern Baptist evangelist. It is backed with funds from various church groups and individuals. In addition to its broadcast to iron curtain countries, the station will beam messages to Portugal, Spain, Italy, North Africa and the Near East. Hawaii A recent letter from the Honolulu Youth for Christ, Ralph Castresen, Sec retary, suggests that in that corner of Christian America a sad condition exists, for less than 6% of the people make any claim to be Protestant. Of the remaining 94% approximately half are Buddhists and half are Roman Catholic. It is strange indeed to find on American ter ritory a growing Buddhist religion with all the idolatrous practices and weird incantations of heathenism. Portugal From Rev. and Mrs. Paul Pietsch a circular letter tells about getting settled in that land where very few have ever heard the true gospel story. Religious freedom exists and there are opportun ities for the public proclamation of the gospel. But the obstacles are tremendous and the workers are few. The only an swer seems to be the age-old command to pray that the Lord of the harvest will send out workers. Utah Rev. Harry McGimsey reports the com ing of a big Mormon convention to Salt Lake City shortly where multitudes of Mormons will convene. Plans are being made for the distribution of gospel mate rial which has been of great value in the past. While Salt Lake City is very pre dominantly Mormon, there are several plucky evangelical missions doing a noble work there. Spain The Spanish Christian Mission reports that Radio Internationale of Tangiers has offered time to broadcast the gospel in Spanish for Spain. This is the country where the Roman Catholics are so dog gedly resisting any increase in Protestant
