Helps for the Children Doers of the Word Matthew 13

TO EVANGELIZE RUSSIANS WORLD-WIDE PETER DEYNEKA reports from the Far and Near East of great oppor tunities and need for the Gospel among Slavic people who are now scat tered over the world. There is a great need for the Holy Scriptures in the Slavic languages NOW. If the Holy Spirit should direct you to have fellowship with us in spreading the Word of God among Russians and others around the world, make your checks payable to the . . .

Memory Verse: “ Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22). God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, was always eager to talk to others about His Father. He did not wait until He could stand behind a pulpit to preach His sermons. Sometimes He did preach in the Jewish synagogues on the Sab bath day. Other times He preached to a single person at a well, in a home, or as He walked along the dusty road. Several times He sat in a boat along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and preached to the multitudes who always followed Him. Many who heard God’s Son speak had no intention of obeying those things which He told them were well-pleasing to God. Some became an gry when they heard His words. Others loved Him, obeyed what He told them to do, and joyfully became His followers. Some were so eager to know about God that they stood for an entire day listen ing to the Lord Jesus! Some of the listeners were not educated; others were the most brilliant men who lived in Palestine in that day. The Lord Jesus often told stories about things which the most ignorant of His hearers under stood and then explained to them how God’s plan for their lives and how His love were like those things which they saw every day. Among those who heard the Lord Jesus teach were those who did not intend to obey His words; others of His hearers gladly learned God’s will and then did the things that Jesus told them to do. Each Sunday school class and each church service today has hearers ex actly like those in the days when God’s Son was upon the earth. There are some people who go just to visit with their friends, or to show their new clothes, or to plan a party. They do not listen to the teacher or the preacher and the things that they do hear they have no intention of doing. Other people go to Sunday school and church to learn more about God’s Word and to learn to love Him more. They are eager to know His plan for their lives so that they may obey His word. Which kind of listener are you?

Dec. 14, 1952 JESUS DISPELS FEAR Matt. 14: 22-33 Pointers on the Lesson

Today’s lesson presents us with a beautiful picture out of the Galilean ministry of our Lord. He had just fin ished the feeding of the five thousand (w . 15-21). According to John’s Gospel (6:14,15) those who witnessed the lat ter miracle were so impressed with what Christ had done that they were ready T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S
