telescope, but this one has something on the outside. The word “ LIFE” is rising. Now we can read the words, “ FAITH LIFTS.” We shall see whether this roll of paper can tell us why some lives go down. (Put the telescope back into a roll. Pull the center up, and let the word “ LIFE” go down). Again letters are appearing on the outside of the telescope, but they are not the same letters we saw the other time. The word “ LIFE” is going down. C H A R T S Drawn for teaching: Ministry. Made up in blended colors. Estimates figured on charts any size. marks, remembering that the Bible says: “ Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man behold ing his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what man ner of man he was” (James 1:22-24). The black marks are easily and quick ly removed when you use the red cloth. The sins of life are also instantly re moved when we trust in the blood of Christ for cleansing. o r F e a r Object: A roll of white paper. (Use a piece of adding machine paper 2% inches wide and 4 feet long. Roll tightly until the diameter is approximately 1% inches. Paste the outside end, to keep it from unrolling. Print the word “ LIFE” on the roll. Wet your finger and place it on the inside of the roll. Then pull the inside down, until the telescope is approximately 18 inches long. Print down from the word “ LIFE,” the words “ FAITH LIFTS,” with each letter on a separate layer. Push the telescope back together and pull it out again in the opposite direction, with the small end up. Print down to the word “ LIFE,” the words, “ FEAR LOWERS.” Push the telescope back together before the beginning of the lesson.) Lesson: This roll of paper has the word “ LIFE” written on it. Have you ever wondered why some lives go up and others go down? If we make this roll of paper into a telescope, perhaps we shall find the answer. (Lift the word “ LIFE” and pull the center down). Letters are appearing on the outside of the telescope. Ordinarily, we look on the inside of a Dec. 14, 1952 F a i t h

Lesson: Dick, I want you to help with the lesson today. Your face is nice and clean. Hold still while I put some of this black on your cheek. (With your finger rub soot fronr the dish on his face.) Now, Dick, you may do one of two things: either ask someone whether or not your face is dirty, or look in this mirror. Which do you think would be better?

“ Look in the mirror.” Yes, that is the best way to learn how you really look. The Bible speaks of itself as a mirror. When people are uncertain as to their spiritual condition, they often run to people and ask them whether anything seems to be wrong, instead of looking into God’s mirror, the Bible. Dick, how do you know your face is dirty? “ By looking in the mirror.” Yes, and you can always find out your true spiritual condition by looking in the Word of God. The Bible not only shows us our condition, but it tells us also how to get rid of the sin which the Word of God reveals. Dick, as you look in the mirror, what do you see reflected from the table? “ A washbasin with a red cloth in it.” You are right. In the Bible we are told about Jesus, the One who can take away all sin. This red cloth reminds us of Him, and of His sacrificial death. Now, Dick, there are two things which you can do. You can ignore the true picture you have seen in the mirror, both as to your condition and the rem edy, or you can cleanse yourself with the red cloth. I would suggest that you use the red cloth to remove the black
