• Students may need to pay $30 to cover costs of any excursions that occur for this subject. • This is subject to change, depending on the production we go and see for a key assessment task.

Music

Year 10 Music builds on the knowledge and skills developed in Year 9 Music. Students will have the opportunity to play various instruments and perform in groups and solo. Students will study variety different styles of music and understand what makes each of them unique. There is a focus on developing basic theory through a variety of activities on keyboard, voice, and your chosen instrument. Music is an excellent stepping-stone into VCE Music.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of music, including performance skills, rehearsal strategies, reading music, recording music, and learning about the musical culture.

To undertake this subject, it is strongly recommended that you take instrumental lessons, but it is not a requirement.

Content:

• How to present a performance in a group and solo setting • Aural and Theory Skills • Composition • Music Recording using Sound Trap • Understanding stylistic characteristics of different styles. • Applying theoretical knowledge in a practical sense and analysing music by ear • Rhythm Reading / Solfege Singing

Solo and Group Performances. Music programs to create music.
