Year 10 Humanities Elective Descriptors
History, People and Power This elective provides a pathway to VCE Modern History and is recommended for the students who enjoy participating in investigating the past events and their meaning. Topics / themes covered and are linked to areas such as the Fronter Wars in Australia; Cold War in the second half of the 20 th Century; Societies in conflict; and ways by which Human societies recover from conflict and trauma, including the Civil Rights (Black people, women and LGBTI+), and understanding the societies of Cuba, China, North Korea, Iran and Russia as examples. Students in this elective will engage with different voices from the past visual medias and will participate in reading, visual media and the internet and the text book.
