Alaska Miners Journal, June 2019

A Message from the Executive Director

Dear Members, Can you believe we are almost halfway

A special thank you to all our sponsors, listed on page 5, who helped to make the Alaska Mining Day 2019: 80th Anniversary Kick-Off Party achievable. Also on May 10th, we launched a redesign of alaskaminers. org. Our focus on this redesign was to make this website a tool and resource for our members. I have a huge request on this front: please take some time to go through the pages and send us corrections, additions, ideas, anything at all that you’d like to see make your AMA website experience easier and better! Remember, we have a web designer on staff now, so we can really take advantage of having a great website to serve our industry. You can read more about the redesigned website launch on pages 8-9. We are looking forward to a continued celebration of 80 years of AMA and its members. Our hope is that these events, tools, and resources make you, as AMA members, feel more informed, connected and aware regarding all things mining related, and help you tell our story all year long.

through 2019, with summer and the field season well underway? This is always marked by the arrival of your AMA 2019 handbook and service directory – if you haven’t already, you should be receiving it in the mail very shortly. You’ll notice that this year’s handbook has a special focus on AMA’s 80th Anniversary, and what a great achievement that is as an organization. One of AMA’s first 80th Anniversary events was a party held on May 10, 2019, at Matanuska Brewing Company in Anchorage. We chose May 10th, Alaska Mining Day, because what we really want to celebrate is you, our members, that have made Alaska’s mining industry so great for 80 years. The party was a smashing success. We were able to spend the entire week highlighting the impressive contributions of Alaska’s miners, especially the day of the party. We heard high praise from Senator Dan Sullivan and Commissioner Corri Feige, as well as commitments to working hard to ensure our industry may continue to prosper. We are so grateful for all of you who attended, sponsored and contributed the to Alaska Mining Day party. As we have said before, our events are only made fun because of those who attend, and we thank you for making all our events not only financially possible but fabulous. For those of who you weren’t able to attend, don’t worry. We’ll have more events throughout the year, especially at our Annual Convention and Trade Show in November. I hope you enjoy the event coverage in this issue on pages 4-5 and what we’ve posted on social media. Watch for more in our July Alaska Miner Magazine.

Thank you again,

Deantha Crockett Executive Director
