8.​ UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE In case an employee or ex-employee of Madison-Ridgeland Academy becomes eligible for unemployment compensation, the School will comply with the provisions of the laws on unemployment compensation as regulated by the State. 9.​ SOCIAL SECURITY Eligible employees of Madison-Ridgeland Academy are fully covered under Social Security and the laws concerning FICA. Employee Social Security deductions and monthly Social Security contributions by the School, as required by the laws, are made during each employee’s current pay period. 10.​PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Educational professionals today need to have not only a firm grasp of course content and excellent teaching skills, but also mastery of technical resources, understanding of learning strategies, and increased knowledge in order to prepare students for a more complex and interconnected world. The goal is to support a professional development program that will enable every teacher to reach his or her highest level of professional competence in the classroom and to maintain that high level throughout his or her career at MRA. 11. ADMISSIONS POLICY Admissions and Enrollment Management Mission Statement​ MRA Admissions and Enrollment Management Team provides leadership, support, service, and essential infrastructure for attracting, enrolling, retaining, and graduating a talented, mission-appropriate, and diverse student body. Admissions Policy​ The admissions process consists of the following requirements. All prospective students will submit an online application, pay the application fee, and be placed in the waiting pool for his or her grade and entry year. Entrance age is set by state law: students entering 1st grade must be 6 by September 1st. Students in grades 1–12 must pass an entrance exam and provide copies of transcripts including report cards and achievement tests. Students must have grades and credits from their former school that indicate probable success at MRA. All grades must be passing (minimum passing grade at MRA is 70 and above.) Students must have approval of the Admission Committee for acceptance to MRA. Admissions Standards ●​ MRA seeks to ensure an appropriate match between a prospective student/family and the mission and philosophy of the school. ●​ MRA maintains an admission process that affirms the dignity and worth of each individual and respects the needs of students and families to learn about school programs and activities. ●​ MRA operates under a clear and consistent set of practices for gathering, disseminating, and maintaining prospective student information, and respects the confidentiality of students, families, and documents in the admission process. ●​ MRA provides clear information, dates, and timeframes for all aspects of the admission process, including expectations around notification dates, financial aid applications, acceptance of an enrollment offer, waitlist policies, and financial obligations. ●​ MRA shares complete information about the total costs of attending the school and other financial 26
