Heather Callihan is the Technology Integration Specialist for Northwest Public Schools, bringing 27 years of experience in education. A former elementary and middle school teacher, she now leads in educational technology, working to make learning more visible, engaging, and future-focused. Heather is committed to empowering students and educators through meaningful digital experiences. She believes in collaboration, creation, communication, and critical thinking—skills essential for today’s world. As a Common Sense Educator and Ambassador, and a member of the Educational Technology Association Board, she promotes digital leadership and responsible online participation. Widely known as one of the most dedicated supporters of education in Northwest, Heather is the district’s go-to communication expert. From managing digital platforms to helping with tech challenges, she always follows up to ensure needs are met. Her care is genuine, and her impact is lasting.

Heather’s work reflects her unwavering belief that when educators grow, students thrive.
Amber O’Hara is a dedicated and passionate educator at Howard Elementary School, where she currently teaches Preschool. With over two decades of experience in education, Amber has spent the last 21 years with Grand Island Public Schools, nurturing young minds and helping children thrive in a variety of classroom settings. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Amber’s career began in Kindergarten classrooms, where her joy-filled, high- achieving learning environments quickly became sought after by families across the district. Her classrooms were known not only for academic success but also for cultivating rich social-emotional growth and instilling a deep love for learning in every child. When the need arose for high-quality Preschool opportunities in Grand Island, Amber voluntarily stepped into this new role—driven by one powerful goal: to prepare the youngest learners to enter Kindergarten with confidence, curiosity, and a strong educational foundation. Her expertise in early learning and deep understanding of Kindergarten expectations have made her a top- tier Preschool educator, beloved by both students and families alike. Amber is known for creating a warm, inclusive classroom where children feel safe to explore, learn, and express themselves. Her greatest joy is watching her students discover the magic of learning and grow into enthusiastic young scholars. Ask anyone whose child has had Mrs. O’Hara as a teacher, and you’ll be met with heartfelt stories and glowing smiles—she is a true difference-maker in the lives of so many. Outside the classroom, Amber loves spending time outdoors with her husband, biking or walking along nature trails. She is also a proud mom and an enthusiastic supporter of her two children’s many sports and activities. Being called “Mom” and “Mrs. O’Hara” are the two titles she cherishes most— both have shaped her into the compassionate, driven, and inspiring educator she is today.
Dr. Megan Stone is an English teacher at Grand Island Senior High, currently in her 15th year of teaching and her sixth year back at GISH. With a passion for language, literature, and student growth, Megan brings both academic expertise and heartfelt dedication to her classroom every day. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (2010), a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Nebraska–Kearney (2014), a Master of Arts in Literature & Writing from Union Institute & University (2017), and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Union Institute & University (2023). At the heart of Megan’s teaching philosophy is a powerful truth: students are the root of her “why.” She is known for encouraging and challenging students to do their best, no matter the circumstances. Even when balancing many demands, Megan maintains a calm, steady presence and never lets stress overshadow her commitment to students.

Beyond the classroom, Megan serves as the sole advisor for the school’s growing HOSA – Future Health Professionals chapter and is a leader in the HOPE Squad, promoting mental health and peer support. Her door is always open—welcoming students who need help, a place to work, or someone to talk to. She’s a trusted advocate who treats everyone with empathy and respect, leading with sincerity and heart. Outside of school, Megan is a proud wife and mom of three young children, ages 11 months, 4.5 years, and 6.5 years—balancing it all with resilience and love.
