In thinking of, this lesson, it is well for us to remember that. God sees all those, who are in bondage to sin, and

by the death of Christ on the cross has made possible their sailvation, if they will only trust in Him.

Exodus 3:13 And. Moses said unto God, Behold;^yvhen I'come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The Gold of your fathers hath sent.me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, b AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto-the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15; And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel. The Lord God of your fathers, the God x>f Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my mem orial unto »all generations. 16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel to gether, and say unto them, The Lord ‘God of your fathers,\ythe God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of. Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egyfet. - 4:10 ' And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent; neither here tofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant; but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 11 And the Lord said unto him. Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the édumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. 13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by thé hand of himrwhom-thou wilt send. 14 And the anger of the Lord was kind led against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. 16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thèe Instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. 17 And thou shalt take this rod In thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs. LESSON T E X T : Ex. 3:13-16; 4:10-17. GOLDEN T E X T : “Certainly I will be with thee" (Ex. 3:12). DEVOTIONAL READING: Psa. 121. Outline and Exposition I. T h e R e v e la tio n to M oses . (3:13, 14) M OSES’ sense of self-sufficiency that he was to be the one whom God would use to deliver the Israelites from bondage. When he was told to go to Pharaoh and to the Children oi Israel* he asked, “What shall I say,” when.the people ask me, concerning God, “what is his name?” :Then he received the revelation of the Person of the living God, , the "I AM THAT I AM.” The name is not "I will be,” though that would be true, nor ‘T have been,” though that also would be correct: but it is the I AM, the living One before whom all the

past and -future lies fully known. Nothing that has happened nor will occur can take Him by surprise or alter His purpose in any measure whatever. God’s character is ever un changed. He is today what He was yesterday, and yvill be tomorrow (cf. Jas. 1:17). Notice that it is in connection with His peddle that He is the I AM. This fact the unbeliever does not under stand, because he will not understand: When Christ was on earth and was announced as I AM, unbelievers de sired to stone Him (cf. John 8:58, 59). Moses learned that the Almighty God—“I AM”—was acting in connec tion with His people. With this name, he could go boldly to the people and to Pharaoh and fearlessly speak as he was commanded to speak. Moses was also told to say to the people that it was the “Lord God of your fathers” who. had sent him. This was His continual relationship to fhe people. He “hath not cast away his people which he foreknew” (cf. Rom. 11 : 2 ). ' I I . T h e C om m ission for M oses (3:15, 16) Moses was given a commission to go to the people and tell them that God had appeared to him and had told him that the sorrows -and dis tress of the people in Egypt were fully known to God who' had visited them. However the people might respond, Moses could be assured that the com mission would be fulfilled by his
