and night after night iri her room. One Saturday night, as Miss June was praying, tears rolled down her cheeks. “Please, dear heavenly Father,” she prayed, “Thou didst send - Jesus to die for Jimmie. Make him want to love Thee.” ^ The next morning Jimmie met her. “ I’m going to Sunday-school!” he an nounced. In Miss June’s heart was a silent prayer of praise to God for hearing her prayers. At Sunday-school, Jim mie- heard- again that Jesus wanted to come into his heart, and this time he opened the door of his heart and Jesus came in to be his Saviour. How happy he wriri! He didn’t ever want to be ‘/tough” again or to be his “own boss.” The following Sunday, as Jimmie and Miss June walked to Sunday- school, Jimmie slipped his hand into hers, and looking up into her face, he said, “I’m glad. I’m going to Sunday- school. I like "Sunday-school. And I like you.” It made Miss June very happy to hear this, for she knew that Jimmie’s sins had been washed away and that he was a “new creature,” as the Bible says—a new boy—sihce Jesus lived in his heart. If the' Lord Jesus had done all this for Jimmie, He could do the same for his- mother, too. Miss June began to pray more earnestly than ever for Jimmie’s mother, and for other mothers and fathers and boys and girls who need to have Christ in their hearts and in their homes. “Come unto me”—it -is the Saviour’s voice, The Lord of life who-bids thy heart rejoice. tainly a place of Bliss and was the place to which the Lord Jesus went while His body lay in the tomb, and also the piace where the repentant ' thief on the Cross went when he died (cf. Lk. 23:43). Paradise/was then a part of Sheol, or Hades (Psa. 16:8-11; Acts 22:25-31; 13:32-37). With His ascension, Christ took .paradise up with Him tq heaven. He “led captivity captive.” Since then paradise arid heaven have been iden tical. Thus paradise, before the as cension of Christ, was a waiting place for the redeemed until heaven should be opened by the'finished work of Christ -on Calvary (Psa. ,68:18; Eph. 4:7-10). The New Testament saints “ absent from the body” are now “pres ent with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). Paul wrote to the Philippians, saying that he “had a desire to depart, and to be with Christ” (Phil. 1:23). And where is Christ? At the right hand of the Father ( A c t s 7:56; Heb., 1:3; 8:1; 12:2; Col. 3:1; Mk. 16:19). The spirits of the Christless dead still go to Hades, where they await the great white throne judgment. Our Lord most assuredly did not go to hell, the lake of fire, called in the Greek “ Gehenna.” The final destiny of the wicked, after Sentence has been reaffirmed at the great white throne, will be Gehenna. This is the teaching of Revelation 20:11-15. QUE .: What will become of the members o f the Jewish nation aft er the millennium? Where will they dwell? They will *be in the new earth. Read carefully Isaiah 66:22. Nation al distinction among saved -Gentile nations will pass, but Israel will re main the memorial nation. % are] they shall be as white as snow,’ for ‘the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.’ ” Jimmie looked away. His mother, who had heard the story, too, said nothing. Then Miss June said, “Jim mie, won’t you let the Lord JeSus come into your heart?” “No,” he said again,' “I’m tough and I’m my own boss.” As Miss June rose to leave, she asked Jimmie whether he would draw some pictures for her to take to a little sick boy she knew. He readily took the colored papers she offered him, and promised to draw the pictures. On Sunday morning, Jimmie had the pictures ready, but he refused to go to Sunday-school. Several weeks passed, and each Sunday he let Miss June go away without him. How Miss June prayed for him—-day after day JUNIOR KING’S BUSINESS [ Continued from Page 218]
