Nursing Program Technology

Anatomage Table

The WVC Anatomy & Physiology department recently purchased a $75,000 Anatomage Table which is considered cutting edge by any health education standard. The Anatomage Table allows Nursing students to interact with the human body internally and in greater detail. Though the WVC Anatomy and Physiology department also has a cadaver lab, the Anatomage Table allows students to study internal organs and tissues on a more intricate level.

Laerdal Manikins

Laboratory Training Room

Students are able to utilize Laerdal manikins, props made to represent human dimensions and basic characteristics, in the course of their nursing instruction. These manikins range in use from patient simulation and care to multiple discipline skills training lessons such as intravenous/arterial access and resuscitation. Before providing hands-on patient care, which is also part of the program, students are afforded the opportunity to demonstrate skill mastery using these manikins.

The nursing lab consists of 4 hospital beds, vitals equipment and monitors, and 4 manikins. The hospital beds are comparable with what students can expect to see in most health care settings. Nursing students get practice with proper body mechanics, appropriate patient care and interaction, and situational techniques by demonstrations and lab exposure training.
