Ravenscroft Red Angus / Bowlin Cattle - Ravenscroft 13th Annual Red Angus Sale/Bowlin Angus Bull Sale [2/28/26]

Welcome Fellow Cattlemen

Thank you for taking the time to look at our bull lineup. This is our 13th annual bull sale, and the majority of our bulls sold have remained in the Nebraska Sandhills region. From the beginning, our goal has been to raise bulls that thrive in our ranch environment. Our criteria is simple: a bull that can withstand a harsh environment, remain low-input, and still produce a high-quality product. Because of this approach, our bulls have also performed well in West Texas, the High Plains of Wyoming and Colorado, and the Dakotas. One of the greatest compliments we receive from customers is how good our bulls look when they come out of the cows in the fall. We aim to develop bulls that get the job done and hold up in any environment. We are a fourth-generation family ranching in the Nebraska Sandhills of Cherry County at the Three Bar Ranch. Our operation is a commercial cow/calf and yearling program that has focused on rotational grazing practices since the 1980s. Heifers calve in April, with the cow herd pasture-calving in May and June. During the winter months, cows are maintained on cake and range. Our registered cows are managed the same way as our commercial herd—we believe there should be no difference in how a seedstock cow and a commercial cow are run. We believe slower bull development contributes to longevity. Bull calves are weaned and fed in a pasture environment, then graze throughout the summer same as our yearling steers. This allows us to identify bulls with the performance and adaptability to grow in our conditions. While performance remains a priority, bulls are developed in a way that en- sures durability. They continue grazing until October, when they are started on a protein pellet and hay until sale day. The protein pellet we use is Bull Plus, a bull developer from J & R Feeds. It is formulated to deliver an amino acid package designed to balance the existing amino acids found in prairie hay. Bulls developed on Bull Plus consistently achieve large scrotal measurements and pass fertility evaluations without compromising production excellence.

These sale bulls are the top half of our bull crop. Thank you for taking the time to look at our program. Eric & Shannon Ravenscroft
