Price Cattle Company with Murdock Cattle Co. Red Angus - Annual Bull & Female Sale [2/25/26]

It is our pleasure to welcome you to our 2026 annual Angus and SimAngus bull and heifer sale. Once again, we delight in having the Murdock’s join us with their outstanding Red Angus bulls and heifers. This marks our 40th year of offering what we call “Herdmaker Bulls.” We trademarked “Herdmaker” to emphasize the importance of trait selections that make for long- lasting productive cows. CATTLE COMPANY Price Our goal is to provide heritable genetics most well suited for our western range environments. Our belief that fertility, calving ease, moderate frame size, and milk combined with rapid early growth and easy dispositions will develop the best traits for cow herd longevity. That being said, carcass quality and structural soundness are also emphasized since these traits are highly heritable and not antagonistic to maternal traits. Validation of our selection protocol is evident in the finishing program of our own raised steers. Over the past several years, we have fed over 350 steers at Beef Northwest in Boardman, Oregon. Their performance has yielded 98%+ Choice, CAB, and Prime carcasses. Retention of ownership has proved profitable each year because of their rapid gain, feed efficiency, and premiums paid on the carcass grid formula. Each and every bull undergoes rigorous selection pressure before making the sale. We offer both Purebred Angus and Composite SimAngus bulls. Our Angus and SimAngus cow herds run in common. The selection criteria for each herd are the same, following our rules for maternal traits, growth, frame size, structural soundness, and disposition. You will recognize the pedigrees of our Angus bulls which began with Wye Plantation bred heifers in 1984. Since that beginning, a steady growth of breeding with the best available proven Angus sires has developed our herd consisting of multiple/stacked generations of known genetics. The Composite bulls are equally well bred. In 1989, we began incorporating proven Simmental sires into selected Angus cows. The purpose of this being to add beneficial genetic components and hybrid vigor to our bulls as an outcross for our customers’ herds. The benefits of the added genes and hybrid vigor are well known. However, this benefit is only better if the heritable genes from the contributing breeds are as good or superior as the purebreds from which they came. For this reason, great care is taken to only use sires with well proven performance measures. The bulls offered for sale have met our strict standards for performance traits, structural soundness, and disposition. At birth the calves are weighed and tagged. At branding each calf is DNA sampled. In the spring after AI, the cows and calves are moved from our Buttercreek Ranch to mountain pastures in Union and Baker Counties. In early fall, the calves are weaned and evaluated. They enter the Double M Ranch feedlot for gain testing, ultrasound evaluation, and development. Bulls not meeting our standards are banded and shipped to Beef Northwest for finishing. Our business of producing quality seedstock is a passion. We not only enjoy the process of developing the bulls, we greatly value the relationships we have with our customers. We desire to exceed your expectations. The data you see is accurate to the best of our ability. All the bulls have been tested for breeding soundness by Dr. Brent Barton of Oregon Trail Veterinary Clinic. The bulls are conveniently located in the feed pens adjacent to the sale facility. You are welcome to stop by anytime and take a look prior to the sale. Call us if you need directions or assistance. Sincerest regards, Tom and Judy Price Family and Team
