Price CATTLE COMPANY with MURDOCK CATTLE CO
WELCOME FROM MURDOCK CATTLE COMAPANY MURDOCK CATTLE CO.
Welcome to our friends
It’s a great time to be in the cattle business and while there might be a hiccup or two down the road due to political issues, the experts suggest there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for the current upturn in the business. Packers are experiencing shortages and cow herd numbers are still down. We read an article recently that talked about what a bull is worth. It offered a formula that
multiplied the value of a finished steer times five. It also pointed out what smart ranchers have always known and that’s the fact the bull is half the equation. That means fifty percent of the growth factors and fifty percent of the carcass quality is added by the bull. Those who sell their cattle at the top of the market get added premiums and added weight. That’s why we’ve worked so hard to continue trying to produce innovative genetics that make our bulls worth the investment for our buyers. We think you will be impressed to see the weights on our yearling bulls. And if you are interested in adding some quality females, we are offering eleven that came out of our replacement pen. This is our fifth year selling our bulls with Tom Price. We were honored to be invited to become part of a prestigious operation that has a decades-long reputation. Prior to this move, we were cooperators with Lorenzen’s and Nine-Mile Ranch – both well- known operations. When those sales ceased to exist as an opportunity, the timing was perfect to become involved in what we hope will be a relationship for many years to come. We have three generations involved in the Murdock Cattle Company. The senior member is a retired Umatilla County Commissioner and a member of the Red Angus Board. Donna is a retired library media specialist. Ian is a manager for Double M and one of his jobs is overseeing the development of the bulls. Lindsay is a head teacher at Echo School. The third generation includes Mason and Mack. Mason is busy launching his own business in addition to being involved with the cattle while Mack is a senior at Echo High School and plans to enroll at Eastern Oregon University next year. We believe in powerful brood cows and we run our cattle in some very tough country. Our heavy-muscled, sound, and good-footed bulls have developed a reputation of which we are proud.
