VINETTE COLLISION CENTRE INC. 30 years of service in the community 2012 marks an important milestone for Vinette Collision Centre Inc.
In 2010, Vinette Collision Centre decided to join Fix Auto, a network of 318 bodyshops, all maintaining the same standards of quality, ethics and per- formance. The group is affiliated with more than 25 insurance companies. Michel Vinette loves his work, especially when he gives the keys to a client following an important repair. ‘’Clients always leave with a smile, but they never say that they will be back.’’
The bodyshop located at 525 Landry Road, between Rockland and Clarence Creek, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Michel Vinette realized his dream of oper- ating his own bodyshop in the fall of 1982. With the help of his ex-wife, Claire, he purchased a lot on Landry Road and built a 1,296-square-foot shop. With more than 10 years of experience under his belt, working for the Leftly GM car deal- ership in Rockland, and his training at Algonquin College, Michel Vinette was more than ready for this challenge. The decision paid off and a few years later he was already thinking of expanding to meet the grow- ing demand. In 1990, the bodyshop quadrupled in size, reaching 6,000 square feet. The number of employees also doubled, going from two to five. “I always loved working with cars, espe- cially the body,’’ says Michel Vinette. He points to the artistic side of his job. “It’s an art form. Either you have it or you don’t.’’ The bodyshop techni- cian is a perfectionist, a stickler to detail. With his magic touch, he is able to re- pair and fix a car, putting it back the way it was before an accident. Insurance companies will pay up to 80 per cent of the value of a car fol- lowing an accident. Vinette Collision repairs an av- erage of five cars per week. e-
‘’The job work is a lot easier today,’’ says Michel Vinette. Parts are easier to manipulate and replace. Metal has been replaced by fiber glass and plastic. Technology advances are evident in the paint also. ‘’Nowadays, we use a water-based paint instead of solvent-based paint.” With the help of computers it is easier to make an estimate. All com- panies use the same programs. So there should not be any discrepancies in the estimate from one place or another, according to Michel Vinette. Esti- mates can be approved by your insurance company during the same day.
