NATURAL HAIR SPECIALIST CONTINUING EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Natural Hair Care Specialist is a 300-hour course designed to teach how to care for natural hair without the use of chemicals such as perms/ relaxers and hair color. The style techniques include braiding, twisting, wrapping, extending and locking natural hair. The coursework also includes teaching the proper health, safety, and sanitation procedures to avoid spreading infections. The students will be able to apply their skills to clients who visit the clinic. After successfully completing the course, the students will be able to sit for the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Art’s exam to become a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist. Required To Register NC Board of Cosmetology requires the following when registering for the program: • Photo ID with signature, ex. Driver’s License, State Issued Identification Card, Passport, or Military ID • Social Security Card – must be signed and not laminated Cost Semester 1

Registration - $180 Insurance - $2.50 Books* - $109.50 Supply Kit* - $494.99 Total - $786.99 ($182.50 due at time of registration)

Additional Costs • Black scrub uniforms (prices on these will vary) • Students are required by NC State Board laws to wear black, closed-toed shoes with black socks (prices on these items will vary). • NC State Board Licensing Exam (NC State license testing is done through Provexam.com): Written test cost - $84 Temporary Test - $5 Practical test cost - $84 Textbook Details Books and supply kit may be purchased in the BCC Bookstore.

BOOKS, SUPPLIES, AND KITS MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE FIRST CLASS SESSION. STUDENTS MUST BE IN COMPLETE UNIFORM.
