: Zircon-containing refractory coatings generally contain high levels of particles in the respirable fraction, but the potential for the inhalation of such particles is low when the product is handled in its liquid state. Manage inhalation exposure risks at those operations where dried refractory coatings may be- come airborne, such as spill residue cleanup operations, core touchup operations, shakeout operations, and spent sand handling and processing operations, through exhaust ventila- tion, exposure monitoring and, if needed, through use of res- piratory protection equipment. Respiratory protection is not typically required when ade- quate engineering and other workplace controls and a pro- gram of periodic worker exposure monitoring are provided. Use N100 "HEPA" respirators or supplied air systems where engineering and other workplace controls do not consistently control worker exposures to respirable crystalline silica to
