Dear Friends and Fellow Cattlemen:
We extend a warm welcome as we approach our Annual Bull & Female Production Sale on February 24th in Burley, Idaho. We are sincerely grateful for your friendship and continued support of our program, and we look forward to the good things ahead. For more than 40 years, Barker Cattle Company has focused on developing moderate-framed, easy-fleshing, low-maintenance, calving-ease cattle—without sacrificing growth, feed efficiency, or the soundness needed to travel and thrive in western conditions. While today’s industry rewards heavy, fat steers, we know the pocketbook demands smaller, more efficient cows. Our answer has been to raise efficient cows and high-performance calves using Simmental-influenced bulls and females. We have worked diligently to improve our herd with genetics that support these performance goals and desirable trait combinations. We value cattle that excel on paper with strong, big-spread data—but just as importantly, cattle that look the part. Phenotype matters, and these critical traits should never be sacrificed. That philosophy is clearly reflected in this year’s sale offering. We strongly believe in genetic testing as a tool to help us reach our goals and to assist our customers in selecting bulls that fit their programs. This year’s SimAngus and Simmental bulls have been DNA tested and feature Genomic-Enhanced EPDs, while our purebred Angus bulls have been 50K DNA tested. Each year we aim to raise a better set than the last, and this group has truly set a high bar. We are thankful for our family, friends, and everyone who has supported us along the way. We invite you to visit our website and social media pages to follow our progress. We extend an open invitation to come view the bulls and females before sale day—we’re confident you’ll like what you see. We hope to see you on February 24th, but if you’re unable to attend in person, every sale animal has been videoed and will be available for viewing on our website.
