Twenty years after Officer Henry “ Hank ” Nava Jr. was killed in the line of duty, family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects in remembrance at a candlelight vigil on December 1. On December 12, FWPD hosted a graduation ceremony for Lateral Class 12. The class added 16 experienced officers to the force who hail from multiple cities across Texas and eight states nationwide. Welcome to FWPD! FWPD Lateral Class 12 Graduation FWPD hosted and attended multiple community events during the past quarter, partnering with community leaders and businesses to both serve the community and provide residents with opportu- nities to gather together. Holiday cheer was spread to patients at Cook Children ’ s Medical Center, Thanksgiving turkeys were given away to local residents, neighborhoods came together during National Night Out, and knowledge was shared at elementary school career days. Community Events Fort Worth officials and the Air Support unit welcomed the new Bell 505 helicopter at Meacham International Airport on December 16. Equipped with advanced naviga- tion, a high-resolution thermal-imaging camera, and a 22,500-lument searchlight, it joins the other Bell 505 in supporting the department ’ s mission to keep Fort Worth safe.
