swaying in the wind. In some areas around Oahu, you can even smell the sweet scent of plumeria while the warm waters of the Pacific lap upon the shore. Summer has arrived! Our family is incredibly excited to spend some time in the sun during Hawaii’s greatest season of all! Here are some of our family’s favorite summer activities!
Waimanalo Country Farms In summer, sunflowers are blooming and the farm is open to the public beginning on May 20. We love their homemade lemonade, the cute petting zoo, and the tractor ride. We like to visit the farm in the morning and then spend the day at Waimanalo Beach afterward.

Napali Coast of Kauai is breathtaking! Go Blue Adventures Tour is a perfect way to explore the caves and waterfalls.
Snorkeling When the weather is warm, we grab our masks and snorkels and head out to Electric Beach, Shark’s
Hiking Our family loves to hike, and some of our newest favorites are Crouching Lion and Lulumahu Falls. In the summer, there are tons of locations on Oahu to explore and experience. Good Eats Our family loves spending the day under the sun and then heading out for a delicious meal. We love gathering for dim sum at Mei Sum in Chinatown. Imanas Tei (Japanese), MW Restaurant (Pacific Rim), and the Surf N Salsa food truck (Mexican) are some our other go-to places for a guaranteed ono meal. Zip Lining Zip lining is a fun adventure for the entire family. They have the longest ziplines on Oahu and the scenery is spectacular. It’s fun to race each other too. Keep your eyes out for chameleons!
Cove, or Waimea Bay. We love taking in the natural beauty of the sea life including sea turtles, eagle rays, tons of fish, and sometimes even pods of spinner dolphins! It should be noted that especially in the winter, Waimea Bay is a popular surfing beach, which is why summertime is a better time to enjoy the calmer waters while snorkeling.
Beaches There is nothing more relaxing and serene than taking in the beauty of the island while basking on the beach. Some of our favorites include Kalama Beach in Kailua and Waimanalo Beach. We love to jump the rock at Waimea Bay, too! Camp Erdman On the North Shore, this sleep-away camp for the kids is so fun. A week of bonfires on the beach, rope courses, tribe sports challenges, dances, and talent shows at night keep everyone entertained. Our daughter’s cabin won

Sweet Land Farm We go to pet and feed the goats and ooohh and ahhh over the baby goats. It’s a gorgeous farm to walk around, and the goat cheese platters and ice cream are delish!

SALES VOLUME OF OAHU HOMES STILL DOWN COMPARED TO 2022
Happy summer!
In May, the sales volume of homes on Oahu showed improvement compared to the previous month. Single-family homes experienced a 26% increase, while condos saw a 4.3% rise. However, compared to the same period last year, there was a decline of 23.8% in closed sales for single-family homes and 36.3% for condos. The median sales price for a single-family home in May 2023 was $1,109,000, 3.9% lower than the previous record set in May 2022 at $1,153,500. Similarly, the median sales price for condos slightly decreased by about 2.2% from $516,500 in May 2022 to $505,000 in May 2023. Despite the lower sales volume, the median prices for properties on Oahu have remained relatively stable over the past year. The lack of available homes for sale continues to drive demand as more local residents aspire to become homeowners. Single-family homes and condos took twice as long to sell compared to last year, with an average of 21 days on the market for single-family homes and 20 days for condos, compared to 10 days in 2022. In the past seven months, there has been an increase in single- family home sales that closed at the full asking price or even higher. However, this figure has changed compared to the previous year, as approximately 45% of these sales in May received the full asking price or more, compared to about 75% of sales in May 2022. The same trend applies to condos, with roughly 45% of condo sales closing at the full asking price or more, compared to 65% in May 2022.

Chia Seed Jam We suggest making the chia seed jam in advance and storing it in the refrigerator so you can quickly assemble these yogurt bowls all week. Using a potato masher, mash down the cherries. Place a small pot on high heat and add the cherries, chia seeds, honey, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn down the heat and let simmer for 10 minutes, stirring constantly. Allow jam to cool before using or refrigerate. Greek Yogurt Bowls In a small serving bowl, mix the Greek yogurt with vanilla extract. Top the Greek yogurt with 2 tbsp cherry chia seed jam, hemp seeds, granola, and a few additional Chelan fresh sweet cherries, if desired.
